Republicans have an inconsistent message on the financial bailout.
For once, the Dems seem more in sync than the Repubs on a major issue. The Bushies want a fast $700B deal, no strings -- the hardcore fiscal conservatives don't want a deal at all and just want to blame the Dems for the whole mess going back to the Clinton and Carter era. Meanwhile the public is blaming the Repubs by 2-to-1 margin. This is a killer issue for the Republicans and they know it. Obama and the Dems are playing this just right so far. They want a deal but with oversight and penalties. Makes perfect sense. McCain is still flailing and grasping. Even those in his own party think he is acting un-presidential. The first big test of leadership under crisis has clearly been won by Obama.

2. The Armageddon could be the end for them and a new beginning for Dems and Obama.
I really do not see how the Republicans can turn this into anything positive politically. They will take a massive hit no matter what happens and deservedly so.

3. If dems are more in sync credit that to Obama as a good leader to make the message clear.
Can we have him as our president now and not to wait until Jan 2009?

5. God I wish. These next few weeks are going to be excruciating.
I just hope I survive to see the Obama victory and inauguration!

4. No
They want to win re-election. They want your social security money in the market in the first place. They want some latitude to jockey for personal power and wealth away from Bushco- but can't, won't. If they are on the dem's "side" now it is just for November and will degenerate into the usual knife in the back long before November.

These are just more extreme dramas of their usual plan to compensate for having no record and no chance otherwise.

Joining with corporate Dems just seals the sucker doom pact everyone is invited to join after the chest thumping ends in surrender to big business, first, last, and forever unto the extinction of all.
