OMG - Did you all just see Campbell Brown's rant? "Free Sarah Palin"
Edited on Tue Sep-23-08 07:13 PM by Harvey Korman

She started off by saying, "I'm tired of the sexism in this campaign against Sarah Palin..."

At which point I thought, oh boy...

But then she's like, "stop treating Sarah differently from the male candidates by keeping her cloistered. This candidate who you say is ready to be a heartbeat away from the presidency. Let her have a real press conference with real questions just like the male candidates. The McCain campaign is engaging in chauvinistic treatment!"

She had a graphic on the screen with Palin behind bars.

LOL.

36. No, don't
she simply wants an interview...no real interest in women's issues.

I know you know that though :)

8. I've thought about this for a while...

The McCain camp IS treating Palin in a sexist way. They must not think she is GOOD ENOUGH to be a politician the way a man is.

The McCain camp must worry that she will become to "emotional" or appear to "weak" to let her take questions from the press.

Campbell Brown is slowly becoming one of my heroes.

Ooh!!! Campbell Brown is at it again, in her "tease" to commercial she asked why Palin can only "pose" for pictures!

10. In my opinion, any candidate who HIDES...
...like a frightened possum--all curled up in a ball--should be banned from
running for any public office.

Palin's behavior should disqualify her from any higher office.

This is an embarrassing joke!

26. Imagine a DEMOCRAT ...
You can count on ONE hand, the number of times Dick Cheney has been open to the press in his entire life ...

This isn't a male/female thing, this is an R/D thing. NO Fin WAY the Ds could shelter a VP pick like this, man, woman or whatever. There is a modest amount of blowback with Palin at this point, but it would be a COMPLETE campaign ender from the moment it started if it was a D.

25. Her Real Agenda--Neocon
You must know that Campbell Brown is just trying to further the neocon agenda. Her husband is not just a Republican. He is neocon mouthpiece. He fully supported the Iraq War and other such issues.

"Senor, spokesman in August 2006 for the pro-war in Iraq Republican front group Vets for Freedom, and Fleischer, a founding board member and spokesman for the pro-war in Iraq White House front group Freedom's Watch which emerged in August 2007, were introduced by their former Bush administration functions: "former Coalition Provisional Authority spokesman in Iraq" and "former White House press secretary" respectively"
http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Dan_Senor

So she is using feminist agenda to try to alienate women from the Democratic campaign. Don't let her!

She probably had to bust her ass to get to where she is now and probably had to put up with a fair bit of sexism too. So yeah, professional women get pissed off seeing such a blatant double standard.

PS Is there video of it yet?

21. I had to rate this a "must read". I saw that segment...
And it really was the gutsiest call-out of the McCain campaign re: Palin thus far.

I noted the smell of sexism in their treatment of her for some time and it's nice to see the media picking up on it as well.

22. I honestly think Ted Turner called CNN and asked them why they were ruining "his" network....
Well, I don't really believe that but I think since Obama gave that speech is Denver and McCain randomly picked Palin CNN has improved 195%. MSNBC has kind of been amateur hour, with this exception of Rachel.

Commentary: Sexist treatment of Palin must end

Editor's Note: Campbell Brown anchors CNN's "Campbell Brown: Election Center" at 8 p.m. ET Mondays-Fridays. She delivered this commentary during the "Cutting through the Bull" segment of Tuesday night's broadcast.

Campbell Brown says she's had it with what she calls Sen. John McCain campaign's chauvinism toward Sarah Palin.

NEW YORK (CNN) -- Frankly I have had it, and I know a lot of other women out there who are with me on this. I have had enough of the sexist treatment of Sarah Palin. It has to end.

She was in New York on Tuesday meeting with world leaders at the U.N. And what did the McCain campaign do?

They tried to ban reporters from covering those meetings. And they did ban reporters from asking Gov. Palin any questions.

I call upon the McCain campaign to stop treating Sarah Palin like she is a delicate flower who will wilt at any moment.

This woman is from Alaska for crying out loud. She is strong, she is tough, she is confident. And you claim she is ready to be one heartbeat away from the presidency. If that is the case, then end this chauvinistic treatment of her now. Allow her to show her stuff.

Allow her to face down those pesky reporters just like Barack Obama did today, just like John McCain did today. Just like Joe Biden has done on numerous occasions. Let her have a real news conference with real questions.

By treating Sarah Palin differently from other candidates in this race, you are not showing her the respect she deserves.

Free Sarah Palin.

Free her from the chauvinistic chains you are binding her with.

Sexism in this campaign must come to an end. Sarah Palin has as much a right to be a real candidate in this race as the men do.

So let her act like one.
