Seeking History Wonks! :)
If someone can help me get a better leg up on some research for a project I'm working on, that would be great! I'm attempting to learn more about Presidential incumbents who are challenged from within their own party in their primaries. The only one I know of who did this was Ted Kennedy, but I am trying to find other historical examples if there are any.

I've been Googling for over an hour and would really love a good solid resource on this sort of information. Maybe I'm just using bad search terms. Thank you in advance!

4. Ford and Reagan in 1976 is a similar case...
in that the outcome of the general election was negatively impacted by disunity within the party.

6. GHW Bush was challenged by Pat Buchanan and David Duke in 92.
Buchanan's challenge was widely seen as a significant part of his defeat.

7. Excellent! Thank you!
I am adding all of these races to a list to study.

It seems history basically shows that in-party challenges generally predict the doom of the incumbent.
