The next week is going to be hard. Now Obama is up in the polls
way up if you believe the ABC/WSJ poll. Now the media will try to knock Obama back down with debate coverage. They need a horserace for ratings so they will do and say anything to keep McCain within striking distance.

3. Aye!
That's what I'm thinking!

But then, I always thought that they were going to try to give the debates to the old man...at least the foreign policy one.

Here's what I suggested we do about it: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x7126402

4. I hate debates
They are like tailor made for the All-American Stupid Voter.

I'm sure Obama will do just fine on the issues, but the media will find something superficial (Gore's "sighing" in 2000, etc. )to bitch about after the debates for days and days.

15. McCain more likely to screw it up
Isn't it more likely that McCain fucks up in the debate? He's got a lot against him right now and it shouldn't be too hard for the moderator and Obama to get McCain into a corner, and then we know what'll happen heh.

10. Yeah, you can say that now but I know exactly how
awful the media can be. They set out to destroy Al Gore after the debates and they got exactly what they wanted. They could not go after Kerry too much after the first debate but I think they praised Bush in the others. Bush was the "regular" guy. He was the one you wanted to have a beer with. Funny how they never use that analogy now. Probably because Obama would win on that criteria. Or perhaps GWB has been such a disaster they don't even want to go there......At any rate, we can't underestimate the power of the media after debates. It will be spin...spin...spin. They don't care if Obama wins on the issues, they like to report the silly stuff (sighing,make-up,etc).

18. The best policy is just to be scared of everything.
That way you dont have to use any energy deciding what to be scared of.
So then you can use all your energy being scared and not waste
any of it on silly stuff.

17. I'm really concerned that the 9 point lead will be the signal for the media to attack!!!!
Their glowing coverage so far will evaporate!!!!

God forbid Obama should open up a 16% lead. then it will really be sniping season!!!!

Does the Worry-Brigade ever fucking stop? Is there any pre-election event that would induce them to cut the bullshit?

8. Can you imagine how bad it would be if Obama were 20 points up?
Now that would be a true disaster.

11. McCain has(stupidly) declared war on the media.
I don't think they're going to be as much help as they would have.

14. I do too.....
Please know that I share your view on this.

The media is fickle....and one never knows. It doesn't take much with them.

Their problem right now though is nitpicking when folks have real concerns. They don't mind looking petty, but not when the majority of those watching them are in real pain...makes it harder for them.

We shall see, won't we?

I already made my Debate organization pitch, and no one appears to give a fuck, so....

Bridge to Nowhere. Amazing that is the top story they can think of.
