The reason behind the psyops operation that "Biden is leaving Oct 5th"

The VP debate is October 2nd.

The McCain campaign, despite getting the rules of the debate altered in their favor, know that Sarah Palin will come off looking like a high-schooler who didn't study for the oral exam going up against a professor emeritus who's been doing this for decades.

They need the minds of the viewers to be thinking about something else.

They need the viewers to have this thought in their heads when Joe Biden is speaking:

Doesn't matter what he says, he won't be on the ticket next week.

They need the viewers to discount whatever Biden says.

Will it work? Not for 80-90% of the viewers.

But if it works for 10-20%, that helps them. And starting an internet rumor that spreads to talk radio is cheap and easy.

Joe Biden isn't going anywhere.

This is typical Republican psyops. They all learned on the knee of the evil Lee Atwater.

Ignore any and all emails about this.

When a right-wing coworker mentions that he "heard on Hannity that...." .... laugh in his face. Make him feel silly for believing this bullshit.

2. Is it coming from Hannity?
I mean, where TF is it coming from? It's beyond irritating. At least it's laughable because it's such a ridiculous idea.

4. Two callers to Hannity brought it up yesterday.... said they got "emails" about it
Of course, Hannity fanned the flames a little.

It's all over FreeRepublic.... and there were a few threads here yesterday by trolls or naive people who got the email and said "WTF?"

5. Thanks
Sounds like it's coming from the repuke camp on high, eh? I've lost count of how many threads have appeared in GDP (from low-post DUers...hmmm!) over the past month or so. It's getting really OLD. Now I just alert on them.

18. I posted about it
because I had seen it being discussed on a mother's discussion forum and wanted some information to respond with. I have never received an anti-Obama or a pro-McCain email. I know no one who would actually send me stuff like this - thank goodness.

3. Maybe it is mean, but I really am ready to mock these nitwits.
I know, i know "that's not the way to win voters." But most of these voters won't come our way anyway.

When people aren't embarrassed to be stupid, we get what we've had for the past 8 years.

6. Since the McCain campaign is all projection...
it's more likely that Palin will leave Oct. 5th.

7. Its called Projection, they are afraid its going to happen to them with the Troopergate

You can always tell what guilt they are having by what guilt they often lay on their enemies.

It is also at the heart of the Guns of August process of spiral thinking and strategic justification failures, estimating an enemies strength and strategy on ones own situation, strengths and weaknesses rather than the enemies real situation.

It should also be of not that the rumor is TIMED to coincide with the result of Sarah Palins troopergate situation so it is likely a reverse projection of that fear.

In psychology, psychological projection (or projection bias) is a defense mechanism in which one attributes one’s own unacceptable or unwanted thoughts or/and emotions to others. Projection reduces anxiety by allowing the expression of the unwanted subconscious impulses/desires without letting the conscious mind recognize them. The theory was developed by Sigmund Freud and further refined by his daughter Anna Freud, and for this reason, it is sometimes referred to as "Freudian Projection

9. Don't they even consider LOGIC.
Let's say that Biden was pulling out...let's say for very legitimate reasons. Most likely it would be Hillary stepping in. Wouldn't it be to our advantage to have that happen sooner rather than later. We could immediately get the "women voting for a woman" block. Hillary is actually a much better debater than Biden. Hillary wouldn't be an intimidating figure next to Palin, so their differences would be much more pronounced. You wouldn't have a man next to a woman. You would have an older, wiser, much smarter and knowledgable woman, next to an airhead.

24. right wing talking point here...
Edited on Wed Sep-24-08 10:24 AM by adoraz
Biden will look intimidating next to Palin since he is a man.

That's bullshit. This is politics. If she can't handle it, she needs to leave. Don't play up their talking points. This is exactly what they want people to be saying, to try to force Biden to go easy on her.

I rather see Biden debate than Hillary anyways.

Edit: oh, and let me be clear. I am not saying you are a right winger, I am just saying that is the kind of stuff they want us to be saying. We can't fall for their tricks. :)

10. What?
Why would Joe "go" anywhere? This is an election, he's made few misquotes, but it's an election, the media will spin anything a candidate says. I believe the media is behind this. I wonder what would happen if Hillary were introduced as the Veep? Interesting.:wow:

11. Let's look at the pattern of projection, here shall we...
Edited on Wed Sep-24-08 08:18 AM by Liberal_Stalwart71
First, from the very beginning, the Rethugs hated John McCain. Their #1 choice was Mitt Romney. It is THEY, not us who are disappointed in their nominee. Therefore, they project onto us what they themselves lack: a strong leader who is charismatic, energizing and smart.

Second, from the very beginning, the Rethugs wanted Hillary Clinton as their nominee. Flame me all you want, but their praise of Hillary is a smokescreen for the fact that they wanted her for two reasons: (1) they wanted to run against the Clintons again. Their obsession with the Clintons borders on psychotic; and (2) they believed that Hillary was easier to run against than Barack. They still don't know how to effectively run against Obama apart from nasty ads and peddling lies.

Third, it is clear that the corporate Repukes wanted Mitt Romney for VP. McSame wanted 'Traitor Joe' LIEberman. I suppose that for some reason Mittens didn't work out so they chose Palin for McSame to boost the religious wingnut base, something that Mittens couldn't do because he's a Mormon. Now they regret choosing her because she's not doing anything to bring Undecideds and Independents to the Repukes. It is THEY who regret their VP pick, so they project onto Democrats that we must question Biden, when in reality, Biden was the best choice. He has foreign policy credentials that are unmatched. But he also has economic experience that is unmatched. If God forbids something were to happen to Obama, Biden could easily step in and be an effective president.

My fear is that this projection tactic has worked in the past for the Republicans. You take someone's greatest asset and turn it into a liability. As with John Kerry, his greatest strength was his honorable military service, while George Bush had none. So they made Bush into a "strong leader" and trashed John Kerry. They are doing it again this time around, defining Obama as an empty suit when it's really both McSame and 'The Puppet' who are unfit to serve.

The question is will we give him to the Republican narrative and continue to question Obama's judgment?

19. This is a very effective KKKarl Rove, to the point that even people like
Bill Maher, good liberals, and Mike Malloy continue to whine about Obama. That's what Rove wants! He wants us to question our leaders because they are displeased with theirs.

Projection goes a little something like this: a husband beats his wife who he suspects is cheating on him, when it is really HE who is cheating on her!! So he projects his faults and weaknesses onto his wife, accusing her of being unfaithful to shift the blame and shield himself from culpability.

This is a political tactic that Rove has played for years now, and it always amazes me how Democrats seem to fall for it all the time.

I am thankful for the new thread recommendation system, as now we can bury these ridiculous "OMG HERE COMES THE OCTOBER SURPRISE" :tinfoilhat: gibberish.

Hopefully this gets bumped into higher visibility.

14. A guy at work hit me with this...and I did laugh in his face.
We used to have long political arguments until the 2006 elections. I said we'd pick up 30 seats in Congress, and he dismissed that prediction as pure fantasy - until we picked up 30 seats in Congress. Now he rarely talks to me.

15. It's idiotic since people are already voting
I cast my vote yesterday for Joe Biden for Vice-President, the idea that they would remove him after the convention and after the ballots have already been printed is ludicrous.

23. I think it's to stir up Clinton voters again.
Remember, the e-mail says that Biden will be replaced by Clinton.

They want it to seem as if Hillary is being slighted "again" and they're trying to prompt her supporters to remember that "Hillary would've been a better choice" while watching the VP debate.

It's pure Rovian bullshit.
