Alaskan voters say Biden better prepared to handle international crisis

Both VP contenders extremely popular in home states
By CRIS BARRISH • The News Journal • September 24, 2008

Alaskans love the job their first-term governor, Sarah Palin, is doing. But when it comes to having the experience to be a good president or the ability to handle an international crisis, they give the nod to Delaware Sen. Joe Biden.

As far as solving the financial mess engulfing Wall Street, a slim majority of Alaskans believe Republican Palin would do a better job than Democrat Biden, but Delawareans overwhelmingly think their senator is better equipped to deal with money matters.

Those findings come from a poll of residents in both states about the first vice presidential candidates they have had, released today by Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Public Mind center in New Jersey.

1. Proof that Alaskans are not the brightest, if they think Palin is better-equipped
than Biden to deal with the economy. Anyone who wonders how she got into power need only look at this poll, and realize that Alaskans are mostly about government handouts, religious-right bullshit, and hunting--and nothing more. Let them separate from the US--I don't want these people voting in national elections.

2. But it was only a slim lead they picked Palin over Biden
whereas in Delaware it was an overwhelming choice

4. You'd think Alaskans would be looking at each other, after all the
news that has come out about Palin, her incompetence, her lies, her utter unfitness even to be GOVERNOR, let alone VP, and feel like men waking up with a hangover on Saturday morning, looking with horror at the strange ugly woman they brought home and slept with by mistake.

7. Wienerdoggie, letters to the editor
in the Anchorage Daily News are running two to one against her. The bloom is off the rose, as they say.

11. Good to know they are waking up. The Per Diem thing, charging the
state to live at home and fly her family around to snowmobile races, would have been a pitchfork/torch moment in other states.

13. LOL! Excellent. I live in a dopey red state myself, I know the pain
of being surrounded by utter god-n-guns-n-fetuses cretins on a day-to-day basis in my rural town.

3. Awe...they love her, and they just want her to come home....
I think that has already been arranged.

5. You're exactly right, Corona.
She's got some 'splainin' to do to the folks at home. If she can't openly and honestly talk to Alaskans (who actually like her, for the most part) about what went on with Walt Monegan -- a simple matter really -- she has no business being on the national stage.

If she keeps up the stonewalling, she's going to continue to lose support here. Already her approval rating has fallen 14 points here since the convention. That's fairly significant.

6. Even the Alaskans who love her can't say she could handle being president
But they think Biden can.
