To everyone at DU who has expressed appreciation for our Veterans....
Thank you!!!! It's knowing that people like you really do respect our military men and women that keeps me moving sometimes. On days when I wake up so miserable and so alone, missing my husband desperately, tired and angry, worn out from being a single Mom to four little kids while fear and anxiety about my husband's safety eat away at me, I know that I can sign onto DU and be heartened. Thank you all for the work that you're doing to get Barack Obama elected as President. Thank you all for having the guts to speak up and for opening your wallets time and time again to get Progressives elected to County, State and National positions.

I love you all!!!!

5. We're getting closer and closer....
There is a redeployment briefing coming up in a little over a week, and my husband said that soon he'll be moving into a tent and that next time he goes to the main base he'll be packing his personal items into a container to be shipped home. This part is the scariest though, because we've come so far safely and they all are frankly, worn the hell out. I won't be able to relax at all until I know he's back in Kuwait, and then from there, you just worry about the flight home....and you just try not to think about any of it until you get the call that says, "Your husband is going to be home in 2 hours, better get everyone ready, and head to the gym!"

25. Oh Medicswife, I can't imagine the anxiety.
Not until you've got him standing right in front of you and he's able to hug you and the kids will it end. I so hope you get through next few weeks with your nerves intact! - it's going to be nervewracking. We're all pulling for you both! Hang in there!

4. I don't know why people think repubs are advocates
for military families. It's the dems who try to pass legislation to get more benefits and money for military families and repubs who constantly try to defeat that legislation. We know what you do, we are grateful and we put our money where our mouth is. A "Support Our Troops" sticker on your car doesn't feed a military family.

11. Thank YOU
I'll keep your husband in my thoughts, and work as hard as I can to get Obama elected

I have a daughter who served in Afghanistan, regular army. My son just finished basic in the National Guard, he says most likely Iraq, we'll see.

Thank your husband when you next talk to him, and tell him a lot of us have his back over here, the very best we can.

16. I will. :)
Honestly, the support system around here is pretty crappy. I just had my gallbladder out about three weeks ago, and although for the first couple of days after the surgery I had a few phone calls from our FRG, I haven't heard from them since. I'm not one to go begging for help either, so I just try to get everything done that needs to be. I just keep reminding myself that at least this time, I have a car!!! Last time he was deployed we were in Germany and since my stateside driver's license expired while we were in transit, I couldn't get a United States Army in Europe license. So, for a whole danged year, pregnant for nine months of it, I walked about 5 miles three times a week to the Commissary to do the grocery shopping and so on. I would wear a backpack and fill it to bursting and put as much as I could in the cargo area of our double jogger. After Pierce was born that January, I carried him in a front pack. Finally, after the Unit got extended, my situation got some attention from the wife of a friend of mine's First Sgt. He passed the info on to some Colonel who put it farther up the chain of command. Finally, they issued me an Exception to Policy and allowed me to get my driver's license. What a nightmare that year was!!!!!!

23. Thank you for your patience and service...
You and those like you are every bit as much a part of military service as the soldiers themselves. Your sacrifice is immense, and I can't imagine dealing with it; my mind quite literally will NOT let me go there.

I have a list of people on DU and in my family who have sons, daughters, spouses, and parents on military duty that I think of... meditate on with wishes of peace of mind... communicate to Great Spirit about, etc. You're on my list and have been for a while.

My heart goes out to you and your children. I see the pain in your posts from time to time, and it breaks my heart. I know I'm not alone.
