Caribou Barbie is the right age to have gone to high school with me.

Back in 1982 or so, beauty pageant wannabes like Mizz Sarah didn't listen to U2. They were one of those weird bands that the weird kids listened to. Sarah and her ilk were listening to Top 40 twaddle like Wham, Human League, and assorted hideous hair bands like Ratt.

Dollars to doughnuts Palin didn't know who Bono was until "The Joshua Tree" at the earliest.

9. They could put a jug band on stage at Red Rocks
and it'd still be awesome.

;)

I've seen a lot of concerts there.

I miss the front range.

5. George Michael is in hiding
Rehab again.

However, has she met with Bono yet? I haven't seen any reports. I gotta wonder if that's actually going to happen. I know that McSame strong-armed and insisted she be there when her met with the singer for the ONE thingy. Just the same, I haven't seen anything yet to say that this meeting has actually taken place.

6. For all its faults I would take the 80's music over anything done since

There was an innocence coupled with a complete lack of violence thats refreshing compared to the nursery rhyme inspired hatred that Rap has evolved into.

8. umm... Human League & Wham were "edgy"
she graduated HS in 1981 (like me) or 82.

given her youth in the hinterlands of Idaho, its much more likely she listened to Girl Rock like Journey & Foreigner or B-list singer/songwriter crap like Dan Fogelberg or pop like Hall & Oates.

Her BF's probably listened to Zeppelin & Blue Oyster Cult.

New Wave pop came later, when she was bouncing around from college to college.

And Human League had some good songs!

back in HS, ACDC (along with VH, Foghat, Molly Hatchet, etc.) was for what we called "grits" - known by their greasy long hair, jeans jackets & baby moustaches. in fact, a friend of mine was busted for underage drinking by an undercover cop prior to an ACDC concert - the cop was in disguise - jeans jacket, carrying a sixpack of miller 8 oz.. other than than he looked dead on lt. dangle from Reno 911.

i listened to Elvis Costello, Talking Heads, Clash, and much more obscure stuff, which, if the ACDC fans even knew it existed, was considered for "fags" or "needle dicks".

The one thing that made me look normal was the even stranger tastes of one of my friends. King Sunny Ade and the Pat Metheny Group made cowpunk, postpunk, and jangle pop look almost normal by comparison.

Oh, and

:applause: :applause: :applause:

for the Lt. Dangle reference!
