Is the entire Republican party huffing nitrous oxide? |
|
At some point "laugh to indicate question/comment was too silly to deserve an answer" became a major GOP talking point. It's not new - they've been doing it for a long time - but lately, with few to no answers to any questions of substance about issues, it's the giggly goofball equivalent of "no comment."
The thing is, they can't possibly know how BAD at they are, can they? If this is an example of their acting abilities, Clooney and Streep are in no danger of losing any roles to them. It never, never, ever sounds the least bit genuine.
It starts right at the top, with McCain letting loose the creepiest imitation of Beavis and Butthead I've ever heard. When he speaks, every few sentences are punctuated with "heh heh heh" - frequently at wildly inappropriate moments. It's a very creepy dirty old man kind of laugh. If I was alone in a room with him, I'd keep a close eye on his hands and the exit.
From there, it goes on all the way down to Nancy Pfotenhauer, who adds to the effect glassy eyes and an apparent inability to remember what the question was.
As annoying as it is normally, I am dumbfounded that they would trot this idiotic technique out for questions about the current financial mess. I realize McCain is trying his damnedest to walk a very narrow line, bitching about the bailout while refusing to actually say whether he's for or against it, but that Chester the Child Molester snicker is hardly a substitute for saying something, anything.
