WTF!! You guys caved already? |
|
What about those of us that loved the bars on the left side? It was a hell of a lot easier before than it is now.
You guys are acting just like the Dems in Congress by caving in this easy, this quick.
Booooooooo!!!

Just a little colored icon, so they don't use so much screen real-estate, and a legend on top indicating what they mean.

On the left it was easy; on the right it's difficult.
I guess the crybabies that couldn't deal with the bright colors won.
Oh well.

Than having these large bars written out. DUers are smart enough to get the concept after a few times and know what red means versus Blue or green.

But I think some people don't like change, or don't adapt easily to change. I think it would have been best to give it a longer trial period. But that's just me. I bend with the breeze a lot easier than most, I think.

i am not in the whole rating a thread thing, so i really had a disinterest in it. and i kept having attention brought ot it
but, like i say
i would have gone either way and not complained

I used the rating bars yesterday and today, but now they are worthless. It's too hard to match which rating goes with which thread title.

24. It's now much much harder to tell what thread the rating appliest to. |
|
Your eye has to track all the way to the right and be interrupted by 3 other columns on the way. Usability was sacrificed to placate a noisy minority. Awesome! The original way, if I wanted to quickly access all must read threads, it was very simple to scan that column and click the link right next to it. Now you have to scan a column a long way from the text and click a link to the left, which is counter-intuitive because we are used to reading left to right.
How about making the placement of this column a user setting? A little trickier, but at least it can keep everybody happy.

40. I love this version even better than the first. I think it's because of the movement of the eye. |
|
I moves from left to right, so it's a bit disconcerting for some people to read that way and grasp everything. It didn't bother me much but I can see the problem much more since the change.
The movement is far less distracting and the colors are better.
Thanks Skinner.

53. Yeah! I am now okay with the format. |
|
The best of it is still left, ie the new system, but it is easier for my brain to function when I see the page.
Maybe an age difference, although I don't know exactly why - I think when I come here, I first want to see all the posts I've missed since I last logged in, by title information, not from a recommendation by someone else. Then if I have time, I might cruise the recs to make sure I didn't miss an exciting topic. At my age, my eyes seem to prefer going straight left to right, and since what I am here for is the posts, I want them where my eyes first hit the page. Nothing personal about others recs, but whether those are useful to me or not is dependant upon that other poster's point of view. That can wait for second place for me.
Perfect.
