Now that we have a high school rating system, now lets get the numbers, so
we can see who is the coolest of the cool and what posters are the cool gang that will bump their own and have their iggies justified.

What place for the exchange of ideas. Color coded AND soon to be put in a numerical matrix so we all know who really is important here.

I had no issues with the new system, but within the time it took to explain it, it has been moved, and now we can see the very close interplay of who is deemed worthy and who is not. Now we want stats. Numbers prove everything. When the opprtunity to rate someone is presented, it is used and in a vicious way. The culling of the herd is going on, and don't worry, just the pure and "just like you" will be the rule of the day.

I wonder what someone from the late 60's would say about this phenomenon. A place to share ideas, but rated and sanitized of course for your 21st century Democrat. No messy ideas here. They get tombstoned by color, of and it's on the right side now, for all you control freaks. That left side must of caused an inordinate amout of stress, poor dears.

Just think, soon you will be able to talk to people just like you in every way, and no mess or fuss with, you know, OTHER people who deviate from your views.

The anal-retentives that are going on about the colors, quantities, and quality of posts according to them are having a field day, as their dream of a board with people who think in every way just like them is soon to be realized.

Who said the internets promoted ideas and exchanges of topics, messy as they are.

But it's better. Control is so much better and cleaner. We scream at the republicans for having closed minds. We just color code them and tally. Dump the rest.

I smell a rating....go ahead, don't be shy. It's just an opinion.

6. No, I'm only rating obvious troll threads and REALLY good ones.
Contrary to your assumptions, some of us aren't going to obsessively rate every single thread. And I seriously doubt the rating system is going to stop yourself or other like minded DUers from being read.

This thread right here is a good example. You are getting responses aren't you?

3. With such a system inevitably come the whiners....
While theoretically there is a possibility that things can be as bad as they whine, in practice it ain't so.

And I'm about as far from a DU-kewl-kid as it gets, so I don't have a dog in the race.

4. Don't worry, Neshanic
I myself am ignoring all the MUST READS, because I can't stand anyone telling me I MUST do anything. I'm specifically reading the posts that have no recommendation, and especially the ones that say "skip it."

Some of us are just contrarians that way. :)

But no problem, the new HAL system of idea sharing is here.
