12. Actually, that is what the WSJ is reporting...
NEWS ALERT
from The Wall Street Journal

Sept. 24, 2008

Republican presidential candidate John McCain said he will "suspend" his campaign on Thursday, and asked to delay Friday night's debate against Democratic candidate Barack Obama, so he can return to Washington to deal with the financial crisis. Congress is currently considering a $700 billion bailout plan that is drawing increased scrutiny from lawmakers.

13. He did say SUSPEND!
McCain to suspend campaign to meet on rescue plan

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- Sen. John McCain is suspending his campaign to return to Washington and join ongoing talks about the Bush administration's proposed rescue package for the U.S. financial system. He also called for his scheduled Friday night debate with Sen. Barack Obama to be postponed. McCain said he's confident lawmakers can reach consensus on the $700 billion plan before Monday morning.

9. Exactly -- he thinks HE SHOULD BE ABLE to dictate the terms!
What a motherfucker!!!!!! He doesn't get to set the rules --
this is OUR POLITICAL PROCESS and WE THE PEOPLE say we want
to move forward.

If BombBomb Grampa wants to SIT OUT THE DEBATE and SUSPEND
HIS CAMPAIGN, then let him go ahead. DEMOCRACY GOES ON!!!!

7. His campaign is coming apart like a cheap suit - total self-destruct mode
Why can't he both debate the bailout AND debate Obama? Is it perhaps that he doesn't want to commit to a position until he sees which way the wind is blowing? And that's a maverick who follows his own drummer?

8. Bad Move --
Edited on Wed Sep-24-08 02:09 PM by ribofunk
Competent managers can multitask and deal with more than one issue in a week. Reminds me of a VP who cancelled a departmental gathering because of a contract that three people were working on. Utterly unecessary unless he simply doesn't have his shit together.

It is not going to play well.

10. The American people get three debates
this is chilling. McCain is brazen about his disregard for the electoral process.

It is grossly negligent of McCain to bail out on the debates. He can suspend his barnstorming around the country to return to Washington to write a new deregulation bill, but he should fly to Mississippi for the debate on Friday night.

Un-freaking-believable.

20. Nothing should stop the debate
and nothing should stop or slow down a presidential campaign.

Hell, this is a democracy, we fight for the right to vote for the person we think is best suited to lead us.
O needs to pound this home...this election is too important.

Besides, O can multitask and he can handle both the debate and the crisis, why can't McGramps?
