Obama Statement On Returning To Washington-"2 Campaigns Working Together" On Details"
Edited on Wed Sep-24-08 02:29 PM by kpete
called McCain This Morning

At 8:30 this morning, Senator Obama called Senator McCain to ask him if he would join in issuing a joint statement outlining their shared principles and conditions for the Treasury proposal and urging Congress and the White House to act in a bipartisan manner to pass such a proposal. At 2:30 this afternoon, Senator McCain returned Senator Obama's call and agreed to join him in issuing such a statement. The two campaigns are currently working together on the details.

6. Yes -- Obama wanted joint statement on economy - McCain playing games
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26872907/

The Obama campaign said Obama had called McCain around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday to propose that they issue a joint statement in support of a package to help fix the economy as soon as possible. McCain called back six hours later and agreed to the idea of the statement, the Obama campaign said. McCain's statement was issued to the media a few minutes later.

2. This was a VERY desperate gamble on McCain's part.
If the media is reporting this, he is more "screwn" than we think.

3. Has McCain EVER had an original thought?
From what I see all he ever does is parrot Obama and Obama's ideas.

4. Are you sure? I understood that Obama called McCain and
requested that they make a joint statement about the bailout. I didn't know Obama wanted to return to washington.

9. Wrong--McCain fucked him over. Obama called for the joint statement, and when...
...McCain agreed with the gist of the statement, he called the media without notifying the Obama campaign and pulled the debate bullshit. Obama's initial offer had NOTHING to do with the debate.

15. That was one SMARMY statement, McCain keeps saying "me" and then says
that we shouldn't be partisan ... yet "I've asked Senator Obama to join ME." Jerk!

This should be called "The Financial Patriot Act" because they are shoving it down our throats without ANY DECENT TIME to review all the parameters. :grr:

Why can't Congress work on this next week?!? They don't have to adjourn Friday.

12. On another thread...McCain tried to one-up Obama's offer by saying they should return to DC
According to CNN on another thread, since Obama made THE first move, McCain took the time before responding to suggest that the debate be postponed and that they should return to Washington. McCain was trying to make it look like HE took the initiative to work together and get something done.

Asshat.

:grr:
