John McCain: What a fool.
Look at what he is doing here. So-called Mr. "anti-Bush" and "Maverick" is rushing to Washington to save Bush and Cheney's corporate welfare plan. He's not going there to work on a consensus or to consider alternate proposals, he's going there to push Bush's plan through, as is, with little to no provisions for oversight or penalties to those at fault. And he's trying to convince us all that we are surely doomed if Congress doesn't give Wall Street what they want "RIGHT FUCKING NOW!!1!!11".

Months of hard work attempting to separate himself from Bush...gone.

Here's what McCain said:
"It has become clear that no consensus has developed to support the administration's proposal. I do not believe that the plan on the table will pass as it currently stands, and we are running out of time."

Sure McCain's campaign is trying to present this as a "country first" thing. But the cold fact is that Americans and their representatives in Congress see this plan for the bullshit it is. Rushing back to Washington to try to hammer this through has nothing to do with putting "country first" and everything to do with putting his corporate masters first.

How will it look when McCain is seen blocking bipartisan efforts to modify the bill, in favor of Bush's proposal, which maximizes costs and minimizes accountability to the American taxpayer?

Barack Obama offered John McCain an olive branch today, and McCain has seemingly swatted it aside, saying, "Thanks, but no thanks. I'll be siding with Bush on this one".

:wtf:

Am I the only one who sees this a completely foolish move?

1. Spot on!
Did you also notice how he was speaking? There is something wrong with him. He seems to be seething just under the surface and trying to speak in modulated low tones. He's a scary son of a bitch.

2. I'm sure he is seething. But he allowed himself to be put on leash.
This is what happens when you put a price tag on you principles and influence.

5. It's also so transparent.
It's not as if Obama had to pull out some deft move to checkmate McCain on this one. McCain just cozied up right on next to Obama's king.

Within minutes of McCain's announcement there were threads by several DUers regarding what Barack had to say to easily handle this situation (i.e. the "Presidents need to be able to multitask" and "In this time of crisis, a debate is more important than ever"). If a bunch of internet stratergerists can figure your shit out in a few minutes, your shit ain't very good.
