somebody should let McCain know that the 1864 election proceeded despite the Civil War
In 1932 we managed to have an election during the height of the Great Depression.
we also managed to have a campaign and election in 1944 during World War II.
In 1980 Jimmy Carter debated Ronald Reagan despite having secret negotiations under way to get the hostages free (sabatoged by the Reagan campaign).

And John, you can't handle a little old debate?
