Government has lost all credibility, which is actually dangerous, even when you have a nimrod like Bush in the White House. Say this really is a crisis, as most Democratic legislators believe, people just aren't buying the fear this time around. Just watched John King of CNN in Montana; the heartland ain't rolling over this time. Feels like payback for Iraq and Tom Ridge's security coloring book to me. Calls against the bailout are running at about 200-to-1, Someone shouted "no bailout" in his face when he was giving his report.

Bush coming out and rattling the saber tonight is exactly what isn't needed if his goal is to pass this thing. People have finally accepted the fact that they've been manipulated for eight years and they've had it. The whole welfare for the rich thing ain't helping too much, either. The rich have overplayed their hand as much as Bush has.
