McCain doesn't want to answer to his connection with this crisis so he pulled a Gustav
Gustav obviously had nothing to do with the republican party but it gave them a great excuse to not have George Bush actually appear at the RNC convention. It was safer just to roll the videotape then to have him come out there and potentially hug McCain and other republicans smearing his stink all over them.

But this is not another hurricane and although people are affected by this crisis, no one's life is really at risk except one - John McCain.

First, he can't debate worth a shit. Second, his name is all over this crisis - with that Davis guy from Freddie Mac a part of his campaign and getting sound advice from the guy who lead the dergulation, former Senator Phil Gramm, McCain would get drilled by Obama. By the time Friday night's debate was done, the American public would see just how connected this tanking economy, the republican party AND John McCain are all connected.

So McCain pulled a Gustav. The manuever worked with the RNC and played well to the republicans showing that they cared about what was to hit the Gulf Coast again (wish they would have showed that much care with IKE). But not this time. This time he's trying it again and it's not going to work. If anything, this debate would be a great opportunity for Obama and McCain to debate which party is best equiped to deal with this crisis but let's face it - the whole country is starting to realize who that is.

Obama needs to stand firm and if McCain won't come then debate Nadar, McKinney and Paul. But McCain is running chickenshit and we should not back down from this!
