John McCain should resign for health reasons.

If Senator McCain is not up to the stress of having to debate Obama and prepare to cast a vote in the Senate then he should do the right thing and resign from the race. The presidency is a very stressful job, and if he were elected he would likely be facing multiple crisis from the day he took office. Do the right thing Senator. For honor and country, John, do the right thing.

He looked terrible today. What is wrong with his left eye? The two scars on the side of his head also seem to be getting more prominent.

But ... if he quits, the Repugs are really in a tough spot. After all the hoopla about Palin, they would almost have to elevate her to the top spot. We know -- and the RNC knows -- that Palin is not capable.

So, McCain may be under a lot of pressure to just hang on. (Which explains why they have concocted this scheme to get him out of the debate.)

But his irrational, risky behavior is indicating, it seems to me, that McCain is ill ... and he may have to quit pretty soon.
