7. According to the Wall Street Journal |
|
Who have been leaning... no LISTING to the right since Murdock came onboard, said he has suspended his campaign.
I don't trust the GOP at all.
Now there are reports that McCain has pulled all his ads.

26. Why is it ludicrous to want to jump ship by suspending the race? |
|
What he should do is forfeit the race by dropping out to fulfill his cause. While Obama finishes this race, as OUR CAUSE! Fuck the timeout crap.

6. Because the crybaby GOP would call foul with no one on the ticket... |
|
And there isn't enough time left for a proper campaign to start from scratch.

I've thought for a long time that there would be some excuse NOT to hold this election... this seems to fit.

|
#2, the date of the election is set via the constitution and Title 3 of the United States Code.
#3 to alter that date would require an act of Congress, something unlikely to occur in order to help the minority party.

|
Edited on Wed Sep-24-08 05:15 PM by aint_no_life_nowhere
It would guarantee overwhelming Democratic majorities in the legislature. The GOP would find some way to replace him. I'm sure there must be rules that allow the substitution of a candidate, if the agreed upon candidate can't continue.

18. They can't postpone the election, they can't nominate someone new. |
|
Basically McCain can suspend his campaign and do nothing from here until election day and he and Palin will still be on the ticket, most likely having their asses handed to them, but they'll be on it.
I'm salivating at this news. How does this look to the people who were just weakly supporting him? He just said on CNN that we don't know what to do about the financial crisis so why the heck would he need to suspend his whole campaign, pull his ads, postpone the debates just to deal with it?
Obama is a senator, too, and he's not pulling ads, canceling campaign stops or trying to get out of the debates.
The McCain campaign is in much deeper doo doo than I thought.

19. Far more so than we realized, aparently... |
|
I wonder if this has anything to do with Palin's affair with hubby's former business partner, who now has a name. Or, the myriad of other failings in the McCain camp.
What a horrible thing for the GOP to do to that old, decrepit man! What a nasty way to end a political career!
