Everyone's Missing the Point about McLame's Big Announcement
Besides whatever credit he is hoping to get from acting like he suddenly cares about the economy - this story has managed to get the big story of the day shutout - that his campaign manager was being paid millions, even up until last month, by FREDDIE MAC (you know, one of the companies we're bailing out) in order to have access to McCain.

6. Not that he is STILL on the payroll of these firms
and it's worse that he has no assignments to accomplish (and hasn't for years now) for the reported $30,000 a month. So... the natural question is... why ARE they paying him? Just because he might be Chief of Staff to the President in 4 months? :sarcasm:

5. This is how he operates. Not srategy, emergency tactics.
It gets old, real fast. He was overshadowed by Obama-throw palin out there.

Everything he does is a RE-action. It is a way to stay alive, but no way to win. His lies are being exposed. No stunt will let him off.

8. I thought it was to override the National Enquirer story.
However, the Enquirer tends to linger longer than McCain's attempt at dodging the debate. It's in the stores for a week.

And the American public does NOT like WOMEN who cheat on their husbands. She just lost major points with a lot of fundies.

9. Firing his campaign manager would have been much
less damaging than this will turn out to be.

10. Running scared
Agreed that, for the time being (at least until Obama faces an empty podium of Friday night), McCain successfully derailed the news about his campaign manager . . . for now.

Unfortunately for McCain and Co., facts and figures are piling up. The cozy little "consultancies" that the grey-suit crowd enjoy is still going to be exposed as nothing more than another lobbying tactic.

Welcome to DU Mad Guy!

I think it was with Isikoff. This issue is a ticking bomb and it isn't going away. And when it blows, it will be huge.

Appropriate that he flies back to DC to join the bailout crew then.

14. They want to paint McCain as Action Hero
Palin just put out her talking point in the Couric interview. She said that they need McCain to help with the economic crisis. Someone who doesn't just talk but acts (suspends campaign)

What pigs and liars they are.
