.... let the home owner buy it at 50 cents on the dollar?

5. Simple. Because then the uber rich couldn't get uber richer.
You are so right. THAT would be the right thing to do and would give our economy a nice infusion of cash. I wish the Dems would just make this the policy and not give any bailouts to Henry Goldman Sachs Paulson's buddies.

6. I've been thinking the same way. If they can give money to banks to cover
the toxic mortgages on their books, why not just intervene to make the mortgages good by re-negotiating the terms of the loan.

8. Its never about doing the right thing...They are not Public Servants
.. they are self-servants. It's all about sending 5 Million jobs to China in the last 8 years and cutting all social programs. It's about puting Americans in the street and then collecting $700 Billion so they can jet off to Paraguay.
