THESE men were serious Presidential candidates:

1860... on the verge of civil war... Lincoln campaigned and debated

1864... in the MIDDLE of the civil war... Lincoln campaigned and debated against one of his own generals.

1932 & 1936... in the midst of depression... FDR campaigned

1940... on the verge of world war... FDR campaigned

1944... in the midst of world war... FDR campaigned

2004... in the midst of the "Global War on Terror"... George W. Bush managed to campaign and debate
(this one will stick in the Freepers' craw)

John McCain.... during a debate on what do to about an impending recession (something that has happened dozens of times in our history)... suspends his campaign and skips a debate.

Tell me about "leadership" again?

Big. Fucking. LOL.

1. You should send this to McCain to re-assure him that serious
folks can multi-task.

2. I believe you should add JFK to the list.
I read somewhere he went forward with the debates despite the Cuban missile crisis. Need to fact check that...

8. I should hardly think so.
The Cuban missile crisis was in '62. And JFK served less than one term.

3. I wonder how many of the other 2008 Repug candidates could crown McCain
for beating them out of the race and doing such a bad job of campaigning? I see a barely tolerant look on Mitt's face.

4. You forgot....
Truman debating with the world still being reformed and the cold war was starting.

Kennedy and Nixon debating when the cold war was in full force and the Russians were invading other parts of Eastern Europe.

Johnson debating with the same and on the heels of the Kennedy assassination.

God, I could go on and on and on....

Wait, Carter debating in the middle of the Iranian Hostage crisis (He got torn up by Reagan but at least he had the guts to show up.)

5. Someone - please make an ad out of this NOW!!
And get it onto youtube or distributed to the news programs as talking points. McCain can't hold a candle to FDR or Lincoln.

6. Not to mention...
Harry Reid's comments from moments ago... saying he told McCain the debates should go on, the situation didn't need to be politicized by his or Obama's presence.

Funny Harry coming back to reiterate and all... too funny!!
