Today was a well thought out scam by McCain and the GOP
Edited on Wed Sep-24-08 07:35 PM by VeraAgnes
as it can evoke several positives outcomes for the republicans:

Look at what happened today.....all the GOP Congressmen involved in Finance were ready immediately to talk to the media in response to the "Breaking News". Example; Graham, Hatch and others...all with the same Reid asked Mccain to come home and help lie....they all had it down in sync!

1. McCain comes out the "fixer" of the economy crisis by Monday because Senator Reid asked him to come to Washington....repugs see him as a fine leader, *bush will give some fighter reference to Mccain tonight I bet as well.

2. Several repugs in the Congress want to get a blank check, we Democrats are trying to take time and make informed decision. By McCain doing the drama and alleging he will be the Hero, well, the Democrats will cave-in before Friday to avoid the Hero McCain scenario.

We can lose if we can't contain this scam.

1. McCain will be seen as a drama school dropout.
The only thing he'll be fixing is his crippled campaign.

8. The GOP had their script down pat!
It's a complete scam on America but they are prepared to sell it! This is their spin. I do not know if it will work but it does pressure the Congressional democrats and fair minded repugs to rush into a blank check decision. This smells of a *bush move as well.

Make no mistake, it is not some senile old man. If you do, then they have you just where they want you....deceived and quick to take the bait.

11. Do you honestly think Dems in Congress will feel pressured, by McCain
especially? They have his number. The sad thing is McCain is making this political when it shouldn't be.
But they're not about to ask how high when McCain tells them to jump. And what about McCain's total LACK of an economic background? They'd be nuts to listen to him.

respond to the media jargon pressure. This is the GOP Plan I tell ya. Let's see how *bush plays Mccain into all this at 9PM.....this could be telling.

Which VP Candidate Do You Trust Most?

Joe Biden (33.3%)
Sarah Palin (66.7%)

This little TV poll only reflect that Palin is liked in the redbelt territory....A mini poll right after Biden was in town.

What I'm saying is she has impact, don't put your guard down and laugh her off just yet. They want to believe in this...excuse me please.... "empty skirt".

and you've been whingeing incessantly about one thing or another with a great deal of negativity as long as you've been here. Do you ever, even once, say anything remotely positive? Or for that matter anything that isn't just amazingly STUPID? McCain's abdication of his campaign looks weak; even conservatives are saying it's a transparent political ploy...someone at the National Review (!) was saying that Obama's comments and position re the debates look more rational and measured than McCain's. McCain is flailing badly; Palin has hurt more than helped, it's turning out, and this past week is showing that McCain has very poor crisis management skills and does NOT behave in a calm or reassuring manner when faced with unexpected pressure.

You should remember to take your meds.

52. duh. spell check wouldn't have caught that. Loose is a word.
and that's not so much a spelling mistake as a reflection of ignorance-yours.

I just have a bad feeling when it started....too weird to be impulsive............smells to me. Now, with Obama going to see *bush tomorrow, I feel worse....Call it intuition if you like.

49. This whole thing just shows how bad off the McCain campaign is
His poll numbers are dropping, one poll has Obama up by 9 points! As Barney Frank put it, its a hail mary pass and I personally think its gonna backfire big time on McCain. McCain is on the defensive and this stunt just proves that, all Obama needs to do is stand pat.

significant, I agree..I was making a point that she is relevant in the redbelt voter base.

66. If this is a "strategy", it's laughably bad
McCain's not getting sympathy from anyone on this. The ribbing he's taking tonight will be nothing compared to what he's got coming to him.

Maybe he'll do something really ingenious and drop out of the race. Yeah, that way the Republicans will have us just where they want us!

95. This will play out over the weekend.
Something is very peculiliar....it's too stupid yet the timing is right....the "players are now in place", $700 billion dollars on the table and the GOP wants our signature on the line now and Obama going to see *bush tomorrow!....this is a GOP master play.

This smells of blood.

83. See, *bush wants this passed NOW.
That seems to be the direction and final goal....Mccain can force the hand maybe if he pushes his wa into the meeting so he can look like the "fixer".

That move alone will stress out the Dem's a bit and pressure the GOP hold-out Senators to force a quick bill pass before we can make an informed decision.
