Will Bush/McCain use this "crisis" to declare martial law + delay election? (see Army in US info)
For your consideration: I feel relatively sure it must have been Rove behind McCain's emergency-stop the debate-stop campaigning-stop everything until we deal with "the crisis" ploy, it's just his style, so what else might he and his Bush friends be thinking about to delay this election?

Army Unit to Deploy in October for Domestic Operations

Beginning in October, the Army plans to station an active unit inside the United States for the first time to serve as an on-call federal response in times of emergency. The 3rd Infantry Division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team has spent thirty-five of the last sixty months in Iraq, but now the unit is training for domestic operations. The unit will soon be under the day-to-day control of US Army North, the Army service component of Northern Command. The Army Times reports this new mission marks the first time an active unit has been given a dedicated assignment to Northern Command. The paper says the Army unit may be called upon to help with civil unrest and crowd control. The soldiers are learning to use so-called nonlethal weapons designed to subdue unruly or dangerous individuals and crowds.

(Any guesses? Another fake terror attack? Another stolen election? An assassination attempt? War with Iran? A true depression with bank runs? With this crowd it could be anything so - head's up. Now consider the Blackwater info below.)

========================================================

And, as another DUer noted upon reading this information, let us not forget Bush's private army - Blackwater - who, according to the list contained within the article below, has been training US Police from all over the country.

Blackwater Training US Police

The mercenary firm Blackwater USA is well known for the controversy involving its "shoot first, ask no questions" policy in Iraq. It is also known that Louisiana's Department of Homeland Security contracted with Blackwater to provide public law enforcement services in New Orleans following hurricane Katrina. Blackwater is also planning to establish regional training centers in Potrero, Californ More..ia and Mount Carroll, Illinois, billed as Blackwater West and Blackwater North, respectively.

These training centers, in addition to Blackwater's Lodge and Training Center in Moyock, North Carolina -- Blackwater East -- and a possible fourth rumored to be slated for the Pacific Northwest -- Blackwater Northwest -- may result in the establishment of a network of Blackwater-trained police, sheriffs, and other police units around the country. Given Blackwater's dismal record on human rights and brutality, this spells trouble for civilian control of police and paramilitary forces in the United States, from major metropolitan areas to small rural towns.

On October 14, the Washington Post ran a story, which included photographs from Blackwater's Moyock training center. However, what was most intriguing was a photograph of a police and military patch board at Blackwater's headquarters that indicated the police agencies that have sent their officers to Moyock for training.

Blackwater is secretive about its non-federal, as well as its foreign clients, which the Post pointed out includes Jordan, Azerbaijan, and Burkina Faso, but a WMR inspection of the photograph of the police agencies has yielded the following list of agencies that have used Blackwater for training:

4. Don't think it is absurd. Stopping the debate doesn't make sense.
Unless McCain has a health issue or a serious embarrassment coming up, he should have gone forward with the debate and advertising. Am very suspicious of what comes next and I do not put out of the question, the postponing of the election if they believe they will lose.

16. Thank you! And sorry to others who continue to think 'it could never happen here" after so much HAS
They're already tossing around 'great depression' and 'massive unemployment' and 'ruined economy' - they're doing everything they can to create the type of panic that would allow them to do something outlandish.

These are the people who brought you stolen elections - the rush into Iraq war - the Katrina disaster - and possibly 9/11 LIHOP.

I refuse to think they're stupid with everything they've done to this country in order to increase their own power and wealth.

I refuse to think they wouldn't do anything possible in order to prevent the next administration doing any investigations of their crime.

I simply refuse to underestimate them.

And I refuse to apologize for that.

6. Ok. I'll take the hits. But it's wrong to underestimate either Rove or his White House pals.

12. sorry, I think it's foolish to ignore known boogymen who have pulled these stupid stunts before
and had them work.

I didn't say he was a genius, only that I recognized his signature on the latest stupid trick.

9. THANK YOU!!!

The Rove worship around here tears my hide.

And, yes, I call it worship 'cause it's like people think he walks on water with his political gamesmanship. He's just a modern-day dirty-trickster, and he's not all that good at it.

11. Its not like I thought it was a great idea, but after so many years it's easy to spot his tricks. No?
I wasn't worshipping him, only calling him out on his transparent tactics.

15. Wasn't referring to you really ...

It's the people that put the "mastermind" Rove behind every single thing even if it is clear to anyone paying attention that he had absolutely nothing to do with it.

My comment is kinda out of the context of your OP, but cali is the first DUer I've seen say it succinctly in a long time.

2. On the 1 hand, it is nice to know there are people as distrustful of them as I am.
On the other hand, it makes me feel really bad.

I have had these thoughts also. We shall see. Dang I am tired of having to be so distrustful of those in power. Just tired of it.

7. I agree. But if we talk about the possibility - if they dared to do something so outlandish -
we might be better prepared for it.

massive voter fraud! If they steal the election, they know all hell will break loose.
