5. If he was libertarian, how do you explain his opposition to offshoring of jobs?
Libertarians, on the other hand, love cheap labor.

10. Ron Paul also hates free trade agreements
But doesn't actually give a shit about workers. Their opposition comes from the philosophical "loss of sovereignty" that comes along with trade agreements.

7. I believe there setting McCain up for an economic win of sorts.
The Congress was already set to pass some sort of bailout package, McCain will go back and play the part of the Rooster taking credit for the sunrise. When it's all done, the corporate media will start praising him for this decision because he's the candidate most in love with the idea of corporate supremacy.

As I recall most polls showed opposition to the surge before it happened, now McCain has used that vote to insulate him self from criticism over the immoral, illogical and asinine decision to wage a war against Iraq based on lies, while Al Qaueda roamed free.

I don't believe this economic package is any more a long term solution than the surge in and of them selves, but in the short run, it will probably work, masking the symptoms and that's all McCain is counting on, something to get him through November.

9. 94% of whom?
94% of respondents to an ONLINE POLL, on Dobbs' CNN page? Online polls are useless, and I am reminded of this, from an Umberto Eco essay on fascism:

13. Ur-Fascism is based upon a selective populism, a qualitative populism, one might say.

In a democracy, the citizens have individual rights, but the citizens in their entirety have a political impact only from a quantitative point of view -- one follows the decisions of the majority. For Ur-Fascism, however, individuals as individuals have no rights, and the People is conceived as a quality, a monolithic entity expressing the Common Will. Since no large quantity of human beings can have a common will, the Leader pretends to be their interpreter. Having lost their power of delegation, citizens do not act; they are only called on to play the role of the People. Thus the People is only a theatrical fiction. There is in our future a TV or Internet populism, in which the emotional response of a selected group of citizens can be presented and accepted as the Voice of the People.

--Umberto Eco, '14 Ways of Looking at a Blackshirt'
