His services weren't needed! What a joke. That poor old sod is pathetic. Shame on the GOP for doing this to him. He should have never ran... sacrificial candidates are sad.
I'm convinced we should NOT bail them out. If Bush says yes, we should say no.

Most will see this for what it is - he's afraid of what's gonna hit him at the debate. After the last week of devastation for McCain, he's had it.

Please let it be true.
Because if Obama shows up and McCain does not it will be either madness or brilliance.

15. He's making it look like he's carrying water for Bush-Cheney-Paulson. |
|
He's making it look as though he'll only debate if Bush-Cheney-Paulson gets its way on the bailout.
That seems really stupid to me. These guys are making it up as they go along, praying no one notices. It's awfully hard not to notice.

17. Now Obama MUST insist on doing the debate anyway, McCain or no McCain. |
|
If McCain is a no show it's just Obama, the moderators, and free prime time coverage with tens of millions of voters for an hour and a half while Obama makes his case and answers questions.
Election over.

21. Did McCain just give the Dems extra leverage? |
|
This is a bluff on McCain's part. He knows that he is completely sunk if he doesn't show up for the debate. The Dems should call his bluff and dig in their heels and demand all sort of concessions from the Republicans and the Bush administration. McCain may think that he can attack them politically on Monday if a deal doesn't occur by Friday, but by then it will be too late.

26. McCain is counting on there being a resolution by Friday. Then, the story will be, |
|
"Just moments ago, Senator McCain flew in from Washington where he was helping Congress with a kick-ass bi-partisan plan for the economy." He will swoop in acting like he just saved the day in Washington and still made it to the debate.

27. It would've worked well for Carter if he had won the debate when it actually happened |
|
But Carter was an incumbent President and it is easier to get away with debate skipping when you have incumbency on your side.
