1. No surprise. It's all being coordinated.
The Repubs are all working in concert on this. McCain wouldn't have raised the WH meeting without knowing that it would be proposed later.

2. WTF? I just heard that and my jaw dropped.
Really? What the heck happens now? What should Obama do? If you are summoned by the White House to come to a meeting tomorrow then you virtually have to go, but how does he do it and appear in command? Can they move the debate to Washington? Geez.

Obama's spine of steel is going to come in handy here.

25. The possibility that there will be a vote on decent bail-out bill on Friday
and both will want to be in town to vote on it before the debate so that neither can be accused of failing to take action in a crisis. By decent bail-out bill I mean one that fits all of Obama's requirements plus Bernie Sanders and Dennis Kucinich's and...

3. This is a totally orchestrated ploy by the GOP
Next will be McCain "persuading" "reluctant" Republicans to agree to the modified plan the Democrats have put together - with some modifications, of course.

Total BS.

32. Yep, I'm sure he will, too
They are colluding to try to make McCain out to be a leader.
They will also use this (in spite of this clear collusion) to present McCain as independent and willing to disagree with Bush on the approach.

I feel like I'm watching a badly written play.

I do think Obama is a great chess player and I hope he and the Democrats outmaneuver them.

Obama can continue to say that presidential politics must be kept out of these delicate negotiations.

5. This would be the meeting where they try to cut Obama in on the deal.
Since it is obvious he is going to win. How much of the $700B do you think they will offer him? I hope he brings a tape recorder...

7. ha--I thought McCain had been trying to
distance himself from the least popular president EVER. Is it going to help him to have pictues of the two of them together? I don't think so.

Obama--please stay far away from Bush and his White House. It will be yours in a few months anyway.

10. When I saw McSame on tv today I thought, what a pompous ass.
Good for Obama standing up and saying a president has to do more than one thing at a time. Now dubya will do his best imminent danger speech tonight to try to make people go along with his grab of $700b answerable to no one. Kick him to the curb Barack.

I'm surprised they want to meet with him, or is it they want his name on their page?

24. Obama gains nothing by refusing to go
and he loses nothing by going.

Obama didn't call the meeting--Bush did. All he has to do is sit there and listen and take mental notes. However, I'm sure it's already occurred to Obama and his people to be very careful about mixing up campaign stuff and the current job stuff.

33. It's got Rove's hands all over it.
Bush will convene the congressional heads as well as Obama and the liar tomorrow and insist that they work through the end of the week (including Friday when the debate is going to be scheduled) to reach a resolution as soon as possible. He will make clear in his speech tonight that he believes this is a "crisis" and that all hands on deck need to attend to the impending doom and gloom being spouted by all of the RW talkers.

Obama will be left in a tight spot in regards to his insistence on the debates, but he definitely has the skills to negotiate his way through this mess.

Time for Obama to use his queen and put that bitch McLiar in check mate.

34. McSame will schedule a 'major speech' to coincide with the end of the meeting
"My friends, under the guidance of myself, President Bush, and myself, we have reached what we feel, my friends, is a wise course of action. Oh, and my thanks to those congressional members of the Democrat Party and Senator Obama, who also played a minor part, along with myself, in this solution."
