Obama Statement on Chimpy's Invite -- He's headed to DC tomorrow.
"A few moments ago, President Bush called Senator Obama and asked him to attend a meeting in Washington tomorrow, which he agreed to do. Senator Obama has been working all week with leaders in Congress, Secretary Paulsen, and Chairman Bernanke to improve this proposal, and he has said that he will continue to work in a bipartisan spirit and do whatever is necessary to come up with a final solution. He strongly believes the debate should go forward on Friday so that the American people can hear from their next President about how he will lead America forward at this defining moment for our country.

Politically at least.

5. Even though he's knows it's some kind
of fucking repuke trap.. I know, he's gotta go. But, I put nothing past them.

They never called on Dems before. It was always chimptard's way or the highway. I guess he paid attention when Obama called him out in his presser Yesterday.

10. Barack will not be trapped. Period.
He's there to represent us. He's sitting in OUR seat at the table. He'll do us proud.

2. I don't know about this. The Pope invited Luther to Rome.
Luther didn't go.

13. Luther would have been tried by an ecclesiastical court and sentenced to death for heresy.
So he was smart NOT to go to Rome.

That's not going to happen here; the comparison is a bit silly.

8. This looks like a coordinated effort by the Guttless Old Pricks to take

preempt debate questions on the economy and
prevent a post debate bounce for Obama.

9. If the criminal Bush asks Obama to do any damn thing and he does it
his numbers will fall. I hope this meeting is taped or at least in the open. :dem:

11. This helps Obama more than anyone
If it is supposed to be a trap it's a pretty lame one.

Barack is on the list with Pelosi, Reid, Dodd, Frank, etc. That's a step up, seniority/prestige-wise.

McCain gains nothing but the enmity of nut-right bail-out detractors who will vote for Barr or write in Paul. It's Immigration Reform II for McCain, but he's a slow learner.

15. Fine by me.
It's hardly a smoke-filled backroom in the dead of night. He'll have plenty of friends in the room with him and a slew of television cameras outside.
