Now Is Not The Time To Panic |
|
Remember that scene in "It's a Wonderful Life" where Jimmy Stewart saves the good old Bailey Savings & Loan from the clutches of Old Man Potter? When there's a run on the bank and Potter offers 50 cents on the dollar to all of the panicking Bailey backers? And Jimmy Stewart forcefully, but plainly, tells them that now is not the time to panic, that if they think this through, they'll get through this? Remember that?
McCain is in panic mode right now. This is bad. Panic leads to hasty decisions, and the results aren't good for anybody.
The truth is, a decision on this thing doesn't have to be made until after the election, so, the winner is going to get to decide what we do. The Wall Street mess is hugely beneficial to Obama, and McCain can't afford to drag this out until November. He needs it gone, and he needs it gone now. So he can go back to scaring us about terrorism.
I just hope I hear the phrase, "Now is not the time to panic" at least once out of Obama's mouth tomorrow. If this issue doesn't make toast out of McCain's campaign, nothing will.
