At last ... the truth - McCain wanted to resechedule the VP Debate.
That was the reason for his desperation to cancel this first debate - to give Palin more "cram" time.

McCain camp to propose postponing VP debate
Posted: 07:08 PM ET

From CNN Correspondent Dana Bash

Biden and Palin are set to debate October 2.

(CNN) — McCain supporter Sen. Lindsey Graham tells CNN the McCain campaign is proposing to the Presidential Debate Commission and the Obama camp that if there's no bailout deal by Friday, the first presidential debate should take the place of the VP debate, currently scheduled for next Thursday, October 2 in St. Louis.

In this scenario, the vice presidential debate between Joe Biden and Sarah Palin would be rescheduled for a date yet to be determined,
and take place in Oxford, Mississippi, currently slated to be the site of the first presidential faceoff this Friday.

Graham says the McCain camp is well aware of the position of the Obama campaign and the debate commission that the debate should go on as planned — but both he and another senior McCain adviser insist the Republican nominee will not go to the debate Friday if there's no deal on the bailout.

1. Fine ... reschedule it for Friday.
If Palin is "Ready on Day One" as she claims, then she should be ready on Friday.

15. They didn't vet palin when they should
have and we're not postponing the Prez debate at Ol Miss.. I know mcchicken doesn't give a rat's ass about the people down there depending on this debate going forward but we do.

<snip snip>

"Ironically enough, if John McCain goes through with his threat to skip the foreign policy debate scheduled for this Friday for the sake of prolonging and complicating the ongoing negotiations over the Paulson bailout package, it may end up creating another distressed asset -- the University of Mississippi's investment in Friday's face-off. Officials from Ole Miss told ABC News today that a cancellation would be "devastating" to the University -- and that a postponement might not be possible:

Andrew Mullins, special assistant to University Chancellor Robert Khayat, told ABC News that the Ole Miss campus has been transformed to accommodate the candidates and the press. Road blocks are in place on campus and in the community and the debate television set for the candidates has already been constructed. He said the university has spent roughly five and half million dollars getting ready for the debate.

Mullins also noted that if the Commission on Presidential Debates asks the campus to hold the debate at a later date, he is not sure the university would be able to accommodate them.

"It's huge. You cannot just say that you're not going to do this thing," Mullins said. "I don't have any idea whether we do the debate" at a later date. " probably wouldn't do it."

22. Have the VP debate on Friday.. the VP's don't need to be in Washintgon
And Biden sure as hell doesn't need to postpone anything.. he could debate tonight without any prep and beat her no questions asked.

Geez.. the first question Palin is asked by Couric is "Tell us about Rick Davis's $15K from Freddie up until last month"... her answer is a deer in the headlights look.. followed by the exact same answer twice and a "I hope he didn't take that money, because McCain doesn't like that sort of stuff". Seriously.. you didn't anticipate that question and have a better answer ready to go! I can't wait for the VP debate... and frankly - one more week isn't going to do her any good.

44. That is the ideal solution! And David Letterman suggested the same thing...
He said that if McCain had to return to D.C. for an emergency, then he should call on his "second string quarterback" to step in and continue the campaign... And that certainly includes the debates! I'd love to see her debate anyone, and Biden is ready, anytime... but I wonder if we'll ever get the chance...:eyes:

And I'd even host a debate party for that one...

43. The Obama camp should publicly state that the VP debate has NOTHING to do
with the Obama/McCain debates. ALL candidates need to be heard in their debates by the American people.

They can pick any other day for the Foreign Policy debate if McCain insists on ducking his commitment.

The Obama camp should point out that McCain campaign is politicizing the passage of the bill, giving Congressional Repubs an incentive to stall it to help McCain back out.

I'm so tired of their dirty tricks. This needs to get shoved back in their faces hard.

Like hell she's ready. What a maroon.
