Reasons Why John McCain Would Be The Most Useless Member of Congress To Resolve This Crisis
Edited on Wed Sep-24-08 09:53 PM by Median Democrat
1. McCain is not a member of the Senate Banking or Finance Committees, which are actually negotiating the bailout.

2. McCain is a member of the Armed Services. Commerce and Indian Affairs Committees, which are not involved in the negoatitions.

3. The main folks who threatening to vote against the bailout are idealogical Republican members of the House, who are against any form of government intervention, and also generally dislike John McCain, thus his presense and support for the bill could very well tank any support by them. Heck, John McCain is in the Senate, not the House! If they are going to give Bush the finger, they would likely moon McCain.

4. McCain has been the most absent member of Congress over the past two years, and the notion that Congress needs his presense is narcistic and wrong.

5. McCain recently admitted that he had not even read the three page original proposal! Is Congress expected to sit down patiently while he actually reads the proposal? If he has not read it, what does he expect to add to the discussion?

6. McCain presense will turn the entire process into freaking political game that will undermine any chance at a bi-partisan solution.
