Back to McCain's eye...I just perused the report of his medical

records that were shown to reporters very briefly this summer. The only thing I see that could possibly be connected to his appearance of late is that on March 29, 2008, the Dr. reports that an ultrasound was taken of a "small, superficial palpable nodule in the left periauricular region (the outer ear area). This is then classified as a "small neuroma" which is commonly defined as a tumor of the nerves, although the term can also be applied more generally for a tumor of nervous system tissue . The report does not say what action was then taken. So, I don't know, but maybe that is what this degeneration of the left side of his face has to do with.

6. I don't know.... I just don't see anything in those records that

shows that neuroma being resolved in any manner, and they aren't letting anyone have another look at the records. Democracy For America is working on getting an ad about that up on the air right now too.

I'm probably just up WAY too late and have had too much time to think about it. Somethings rotten in the McCain campaign. Of that I'm certain.

8. That's where the melanoma was.

When they removed it, they also did a lymph node dissection, and I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't clip some nerves in the process. The swelling on the left side of his face is secondary to the absence of lymph nodes.

9. That was years ago though......so as the Doctor classified it

as a small neuroma, it would then be possible that the melanoma invaded the nerves in that area, right?

I looked at those records from March again this morning, and they also did a sonography of his thyroid at the time. There was no mention of any results from that either.

Me thinks something is definitely afoot. I wish I had access to the Physician's Assistant that my husband used to work with. I'd chat with him about this and he could tell me if he thought I might be onto something or if I was all wet.

10. At what stage did they discover the melanoma?

but it should have been picked up on CT scan. If so, that would probably require an en nucleation of the eye and probably the entire socket. I would expect it isn't mets, but melanoma is like a time bomb. I do think there is something wrong with the eyelid, and the blinking drives me nuts! I keep think he's blinking out some sort of Morse Code, like "Help, I just crashed my campaign into the drink and I can't swim"! Where ARE those North Vietnamese when you need them? They don't call him "ACES" for nothing!
