Bush calls a timeout for McCain.... |
|
Edited on Thu Sep-25-08 12:59 AM by dennis4868
So McCain is doing crappy in the polls, especially many crucial state polls, and tries to call a timeout in the campaign much like an NBA coach does when his team is doing poorly and wants to change the momentum in the game. Obama did not go for it so Bush has to call a timeout for him (and Obama cannot say no to a President).
I don't like this. This is all about politics. It has nothing to do with McCain and Bush caring about the economy. Bush and McCain know things are going bad for the chance of a repub in the WH for at least the next 4 years and they are desparate. McCain could not get the timeout so Bush does it for him.
Unfortunately, Obama has no choice but to go to Washington :-(

1. Fox news, Greta poll, only 11% call it a political trick, 89% "putting country 1st" |
|

7. Good, I didn't go to the poll, just repeated what they broadcast... |
|
...they probably selected the one moment in time that the poll showed that crazy result!

5. Haven't most polls averaged out to it being 86% against postponing the debates? |
|
That's fucked up, even for Fox.

2. Why do our leaders have no spine? |
|
Obama could go to the debate and have the entire time to himself! Instead he looks weak by coming when Bush says "here boy."

9. umm that's a bit crude, Bush is the President, I know a crappy one |
|
but he sort of has to honor the position if not the man in the position.
beside Bush the jackass, mentioned it in his address Although I would perfer he didn't go, I suspect McCain wants to get a photo of Bush Hugging Obama the would be worse than Obama caught in bed with another woman

I thought Obama was going to the debate. He can fly from Washington to MS in a matter of hours.

From 4pm eastern until 9pm eastern, McCain was trying to portray himself as some leader who was dropping politics and going back to the Senate. Granted, this got panned almost universally on all the MSM comments section, but, regardless, this was what he was trying to do.
At 9pm, Bush* completely sucked all of the wind out of McCain's sails. Now, Obama will go to Washington at the request of a pResident of the opposing party, not because his political rival is. McCain will look like he was going to Washington to throw his weight around where he has absolutely no sway (he has nothing to do with the Senate Banking Committee and he's not Mister Popular with the small government Republican crowd who was holding up the bill along with the Democrats). In reality, we now know that McCain is going back to Washington to meet with Bush* - something I'm sure Bush* tipped off McCain with earlier in the day.
This entire debacle has backfired on McCain. People didn't like it when he first called for the debate to be postponed, then Bush came along and sucked out the wind of McCain's attempt to look like he was trying to be a leader.
Someone mail McCain a big beach towel. He has a lot of egg on his face he needs to clean up before he gets on stage at Ole Miss.
Edit: And don't underestimate Letterman's panning of McCain. That is going to hurt him a lot. When David Letterman, who many people like and listen to, even if he's not a pundit, comes out and says "something stinks" and "this is NOT the John McCain I know", it's pretty damning.
