Poll question: Should Obama come out in support of the Bailout Bill?
Should Obama come out in support of the Bailout Bill, supposing it's the "bipartisan compromise" version Rep. Frank and other Democrats support - $700 billion with strict congressional oversight and controls on executive compensation.

1. Has to. It's going to pass and to not do so would make him appear an ineffective leader
As much as I don't like it.

But I would like to see the 150 billion version go through instead of the 700 billion.

If a bipartisan deal has been struck, and it is destined to pass, he really has no choice. I hope people realize that.

Watch him provide principled leadership along the way...

4. THat's a HUGE supposition. You know the bill will be BULLSHIT and will allow the robber barons
to continue robbing us - and getting away scot-free.

Just turn over all your money. And your children's money. And your grandchildren's money.

5. NO
He should make it very clear that he can't support it because it does not go far enough to protect the taxpayers (because you know it won't).

If it absolutely MUST pass, let other Dems in Congress vote for it, as long as all or nearly all of the Republicans do.

This is likely to be a very unpopular measure, and Obama should do everything he can to hang it around the neck of the Republicans!
