Bill Clinton on GMA: "We know that McCain isn't afraid to debate--afterall he wanted more debates"
He was questioned if it was a good idea what McCain proposed about delaying the debate and he said the above statement, but he didn't really answer the question beyond saying that it's a "good thing" that McCain and Obama issued a joint statement first and meeting with President Bush. He said that later on there can be all the "finger pointing" but that the first thing to do is to deal with the crisis.

No link as yet as he was just on GMA.

I still don't see why it's so hard to do more than one thing at once? deal with this crisis and still fly tomorrow night for a debate which will no doubt include questions on the bailout.

29. He wanted more town hall meetings
Which Obama did not agree to. The debates are a separate issue.

Even if you have to fake it. Unity is important for Obama. Do what's best for Obama and resist the need to be right about Bill.
Save your negativity and criticism for Nov. 6th. (You'll be busy celebrating Nov. 5th)

McCain has said repeatedly that he wants town halls with Obama, maybe that's like a debate.

FYI...since Bill has been out and about doing interviews, McCain's numbers are going down. I won't attribute it to Bill, but it doesn't seem that he is helping McCain either.

12. Yes, but after his Global Initiative Conference today, Bill will fade into political obscurity.
This old little-league lioness suggests that we leave the "old boy" alone because he's doing an excellent job at trashing his legacy all by himself?

Every time he does that I immediately think "he's lying."

It doesn't matter what he's saying, I was conditioned to believe he was lying every time he does that after the Lewinsky bullshit.

I get he wanted Hillary to win...but at this point they need to get him off the television. You can't tell me Hillary's stump speeches for Obama have not been a bit flat. The two of them are quietly attempting to thwart Obama's victory.

Edited on Thu Sep-25-08 07:59 AM by ErinBerin84
but could he just say "I don't know", and get to the stuff about the joint statement, etc? I mean, I know some people will probably try to say "Oh, he's raising the expectations for the debate!" No need, Bill. No need. I wish that Bill could just go on a long vacation.

I don't think you all are dumb - you in particular strike me as a pretty smart guy. However, smarts are for naught if one conditions oneself to have a goddamn tantrum every time either Clinton is even mentioned.

I don't even like them, but defeating the real enemy is more important than continuing to fight each other.

25. So I'm guessing everyone here
missed his interview on The Daily Show where he said it's best not to ostracize and patronize our opponent because that would push the moderates/independents/undecided voters away from our party? Bill is smart and he is right. What McCain did was an obvious political ploy, but scared? I doubt it.

27. Apologist crap. And bill is a liar. McCain NEVER asked for more debates
bill doesn't have to ostracize and patronize or trash McCain and Palin, but his endless and bountiful praise is just a reflection of what a fucked up self-involved and selfish creep he is. Can't wait until Obama is President. Poor Bill. It sure the hell won't be even close to being his party then. He'll be no more important than bush pere. Perfect.

He can instead say nothing bad about the old geezer and heap praise on the Democratic candidate for like ONCE

How novel an idea that would be.

38. I have really, truly been trying not to comment on Bill BUT...
Can he PLEASE just STFU about McCain? It's like, if you don't have anything helpful to say about Dems, don't say anything at all. Is he saying anything all about Barack or is it just not being reported? I hate to jump to conclusions and I won't, but if he knows how the media operates and how they'll talk about him praising McCain and won't mention if he praises Obama... then just DON'T PLAY THEIR GAME.

Bah. :(
