3. Expect the Humvees carting the money away to be armored.
I think the bailout will be headed to an undisclosed location in a Swiss bank.

4. It WILL tank. 700 billion will not fix this.
It's like those levees in New Orleans. If they breach, the water comes flowing in. This economy is under water, and $700 billion is a drop in the bucket.

This bailout is about the Bush administration trying to limp past the election BEFORE the DOW dives 2000 points.

11. That's EXACTLY what I'm feeling this is...
The question is, who will own this bill? Who KNOWS if it will succeed or fail?

7. Don't worry, the market will be thrilled by the bill.
At least in the short run. In the medium to long run, yeah, it may still tank, in which case we're all screwed.

8. Not IF, its WHEN.
Many journalists who I admire have said that this is nothing more than a small band-aide. Monkeyboy has fucked up everything he touches, and this was, hopefully, his last hurrah.

9. Not if, but when. All this "bailout" does is buys time. Period.
It will lead to higher inflation. All of the money will goo to bad debt, so it will not actually inject any usable capital.

12. The bill will pass; the economy will still tank by most people's definitions
The only question is whether this becomes evident in as little as a few days or if it takes a few weeks.

And because of that, Obama will win, and by a landslide. McCain has had the worst luck I've ever seen, ie having the almost October surprise be an unfolding economic meltdown, which the administration had been successfully postponing all year by their actions (putting their nominee first, not their country - otherwise we could have gotten at this sooner).

The very thing that McCain cannot address with any knowledge just blew up on his watch. Look at his behavior - he is gobsmacked and doing rash things that seem like they might work to him in his impaired state of mind. This is the end for John McCain's candidacy; only thing left is to watch and see the details of how it plays out.

13. Apple stands will be built ....brother can you spare a dime!!!!
I think even with this bailout using taxpayer money we haven't printed yet isn't going to make one bit of difference to Main St. who gets to pay for the greed and excess of failed business practices.
