McCain Solution: When you are losing by 6 points, call the game off!! |
|

Imagine if the same thing happened this Saturday at college football games across the nation.
At half time the coaches for the teams that were losing announce that they were sorry but they had to rush home to take care of athletic association finances for their respective schools.
Would anybody buy that? How many fan riots would you expect to see on ESPN?
The real reason John McCain has "suspended his campaign" is simply that John McCain's campaign is in deep trouble.
He's slipped from 3 points in the lead after the Republican convention to 6 points in the hole after the Wall Street debacle. For reasons surpassing understanding (well not really) the American people associate Wall Street with Republicans and in combination with a Republican President and 6 of the last 8 years a Republican Congress, Main Street is blaming Bush and in turn McCain for the mess.
Obama is beating McCain in the key battleground states of Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Michigan and also is viable in the normally Republican state of Virginia and looks to win convincingly in the electoral college on November the 4th at this point.
Obama is also beating McCain convincingly in the money race outraising him by nearly 20 million dollars in the last reporting period - something almost unheard of in recent Presidential politics, the Democrat outraising the Republican.
With that money, Obama has been running TV ads in places like Florida and beating John McCain in the TV air war with better coverage.
John McCain's solution to all of this is to unilaterally declare "a truce" - in short to take his ball and go home and explain it as putting "the crisis first".
Hogwash.
Let's call it what it is, playing possum, hiding out, holing up, hunkering down.
He wants to slow down Obama's campaign by asking it to stop their out fundraising and to stop TV ads and to stop door to door campaigns because McCain simply can't compete - not because we really need John McCain to come back to Washington and save the day.
In John McCain's own words he said he didn't really know much about economic matters.
So I say to Obama: Keep doing what you are doing - Don't stop your campaign - Don't stop your advertising - Don't stop your fundaising - Show up to the debate Friday night.
In short: Don't quit when you're winning, the game's not over yet!
