The campaign narrative has reached a critical mass.... i.e. McCain's actions viewed as "political" |
|
We're now at a point in the campaign... and the narrative has been sufficiently set... that every move made by either campaign is assumed to be politically motivated.
Witness the SUSA "snap" poll yesterday that said that 78% of the public wanted the debate to go on, while 10% said no.
The narrative on ALL networks...even Fox.... is that McCain debate crapola was done for political purposes.
Listen to the talk around your water coolers at work today.
America ain't buying that "John McCain is a hero, swooping in to save our economy".
They're laughing at him. When we're not crying over the state of the economy.
McCain's gambit is the equivalent of a 6-year-old, walking into the kitchen just as mommy is finishing baking and frosting a cake, putting the candles on and announcing to the birthday party "look what I made!"
Barney Frank made McCain look silly. So did Schumer. "We're almost done with this... what exactly is McCain going to do to help NOW?"
Nobody in the country, except for the most die-hard of delusional freepers, is considering McCain some "hero" for swooping in on negotiations he has no role in other than 1 of 100 votes.
Watch the tracking polls... you'll see.

Some people on this board will be laughingstocks before the year is up, that's for sure.

2. I don't get it about Fox. |
|
I don't think I've ever seen them balk at a Republican talking point before. What's the game here?

4. make sure to always frame it as a "stunt" or "grandstanding" |
|
everything done by a campaign is "political" so that word is almost meaningless here

5. But will that narrative HOLD? |
|
It doesn't matter what everyone thought last night--what will matter is how the media reacts. Unfortunately, they shape public opinion for every low-information voter in the country.

6. I think the Obama camp wisely lets McCain and Company hang themselves.... |
|
it doesn't take much work on their part or our part, amazingly enough.
We can step in to correct facts when we encounter people who believe their lies, but McCain's actions are speaking volumes to the average voter, not to mention the media's recent rebellion against his campaign.
IMHO.

9. Of course, there's only 40 days left. He even has repub pundits dissing him on this one. |
|
I think Wednesday September 24, 2008 will go down in history as the dumbest day in a political campaign and the day McChicken threw in the towel.
