My colleague just made an astute observation regarding McCain and Palin...
If McCain needs to "suspend" his campaign to rush to DC and meet with W, then it's up to the Vice-Presidential candidate to assume the lead in the campaign. So, if McCain is "indisposed" due to his "sense of duty" to his country, then Palin should step in and continue with the campaign. If McCain can't be there tomorrow night for the debate with Obama, then Palin should take his place.

Isn't that what the Vice-President does? Assume the duties of the President when he is unable to perform said duties?

1. When your "duties" consist of panic, surrender and making an ass of yourself...

...I'd say he's performing them just fine.

3. My Republican colleague is very disappointed in McLame
My coworker has been a solid McLame supporter. He surprised me today with his vehemence in denouncing McLame's latest gimmick. He says it looks like McLame is afraid to debate and doesn't see why on earth his presence is needed in Washington.

Interesting that he has a more lucid viewpoint than it seems Bill Clinton does, although to be fair I have not read Clinton's exact words that supposedly defend McLame's decision.

4. That would be bad... it would elevate Palin to Obama's level... and lower Obama to hers...

*BAD* idea.

13. That should not happen.
McCain can leave Washington for three hours to debate and Palin can keep his senate seat warm.

I don't think Obama could go down to Palin's level. Or she to his. I think it would show those who see them as having the same amount of experience that they are light years apart in knowledge and understanding.

Still...it wouldn't be good and it's never going to happen.

14. You guys planning to announce a suspension of your campaign? Really oughtta
consider it. It wouldn't mean you actually nave to do anything different--just keep buying those classified ads in the Hog Breeder's Digest and all, but you'd probly get some mileage out of the announcement.

16. That would not be cool. What would work a lot better is to go on Letterman
& announce the suspension there.
