POLITICO: Palin may also suspend campaign
http://news.yahoo.com/s/politico/20080925/pl_politico/13883

NEW YORK, N.Y. – John McCain's campaign has floated the possibility that Sarah Palin may also suspend her campaign, matching McCain’s announcement that he would cease campaigning for president to return to Washington to try to hammer out a fix for the nation’s financial meltdown.

As the governor of Alaska, Palin cannot participate in the high-level federal government deliberations on the economy that McCain gave as his reason for suspending his campaign.

Yet, after McCain’s dramatic announcement, his campaign chief Steve Schmidt suggested Palin, the Republican vice presidential nominee, would also suspend her campaign.

“We're going to take the ads down. They won't be traveling. There won’t be rallies,” Schmidt said when asked about Palin’s campaign, according to a rough transcription provided to reporters.

40. Exactly. Nothing has been suspended.
McCain's toxic spokeswoman Nicole Wallace was all over NBC and MSNBC this morning, full of snark and bromide, ridiculing Obama and even suggesting he take one of his styrofoam pillars to Mississippi and debate it.

And Politico reports that McCain staffers are working away this morning, sending out their hourly emails and talking points. Here in Ohio I've seen three McCain ads just this morning, and other states are reporting the same.

This is a fucking farce.

This is absolutely bizarre. Either they're quiting or they already know the result.

Heck, I felt traumatized for her. I can't imagine how she feels.

5. Yeah, she'll "suspend" by making appearances and having cameras
following her around, just like McLoser. This is such a fucking joke, it's unreal, but why isn't the media calling them out on it?

6. This is ALL in effort to get her out of that debate next week..
It'll be tough to explain why it needs to be cancelled (yes, cancelled - McCain DOES NOT WANT IT TO HAPPEN EVER.. she's not ready now, nor will she be in 4 weeks). By cancelling her "campaign".. it makes this whole charade even more plausible - to the base anyway.

10. So this is how they handle a "crisis"???
Christ. Who is running their campaign?

If they want to prove Palin can do the job then they ought to let her take the reigns as McCain goes to "save the country", as he told Letterman.

These people are INSANE, and I'm more scared than ever.

12. Bwhahaha! This is becoming surreal. What does she plan on
bringing to the economic table? Or, 'excuse me, I won't be able to participate in the only debate scheduled'.

An effective way to hide a future president of the US. Cripes, you can't make it up.

13. Unilateral disarmament.
In the hopes that the American electorate will see their nobility and scorn the Democrats for not joining them. It's so Mavericky a political gambit, it's a wonder nothing like it has ever been done before.

17. I assumed as much...
I mean, she IS part of the McCain campaign, correct? It's not like she ever really started anyways. She wasn't going to take over for him...the whole garbage about there not being any appearances or commericials is pretty hysterical though.

19. Isn't this the most bizarre campaign ever?
Perhaps a movie should be made about all this. It could be called "The Candidates Who Weren't There."

Or perhaps, "The Candidates Who Never Were"

I've never seen anything like this...

22. Well, duh
That was the point that Letterman made last night. For all intents and purposes, McSame and Palin are one in the same. If he can't do the glad-handing and baby-kissing, it's her job to take over. Obviously, she's incapable of going solo without screwing up. That's why they keep her locked in her princess castle.

26. Any chance Sarah's preggers again? What with her bein' so hot and all!
According to her hometown "friends", she and her husband refused to consider sterilization/vasectomy, and birth control appears to be akin to practicing witchcraft. But it would be OK if she were VP AND pregnant, cause her oil-field roughneck/high school grad hubbie could take over her duties and call the shots, just like he's done in the Alaska governor's office.

The McCain campaign is beyond farce.
