Saw a great Obama ad this morning ...for Pennsylvania. |
|
Featured a plant in Pennsylvania that closed, laying off all the workers. Some of the workers were then hired to disassemble the machinery from the plant and crate it up to sent it to China.
McCain supported bills giving tax credit to companies that shipped jobs overseas, including the company in the ad. (Bill numbers and dates were displayed.) Ad also featured McCain's anti labor, anti tax reform and anti middle class voting record giving bill numbers and dates he voted. All this narrated by Obama. I believe this will be pretty effective here in PA, where plants close every month and re-open overseas.

3. That's a new ad that began this week. It really hits home, doesn't it? |
|
So many in the Rust Belt will get furious at the thought of McCain's voting for tax benefits for companies that outsource jobs.

5. I live near Reading, PA ...Wherea Hershey plant usd to be. |
|
It was closed about a year ago, with only a short notice. Many local families worked there - in some cases 3 generations of people in the same family were laid off forever.
Hershey bars are now made in Mexico.
Funny, but they also changed the formula because they felt they were not making enough profit, even at Mexican labor rates. I worked as a factory design drafter for nearly 15 years in this area of PA, and 2 of the companies I worked for no longer make anything at all around here, and 2 others have cut their local manufacturing facilities many times over the last 20 years. I got out of that and went to college for Social Work when I was in my 40's. Yeah, it does strike home. Not just with me, either.

6. I remember the Hershey plant closing and what a surprise it was. |
|
I hope the ad plays in a loop in the Rust Belt from now until Nov. 4.
