Today, Senator Obama shows he is in control of the Democratic Party.... |
|
By dropping the democratic push to revise the recently passed bankruptcy law to allow federal judges to permit mortgage reduction plans as part of the settlement, Obama made way (provided poltical cover) for the democrats to move forward on the whole package.
This was done to get the GOP on board. There is no way Obama, Pelosi or Reid was going to let the dem's be played for a patsy on this critical vote. If the Dem's back the plan and the House GOP bolt and vote no, you know the GOP will be attacking every democrat who votes for the package as in the pocket of Wall Street Crooks.
And guess what, Bush and McCain were counting on that. You know they aren't above playing politics with even the most touchy issues before the country. Look how they politicized the War, Katrina every thing.
Obama is a smooth operator, a guy who sees more than one step ahead. In this way he is very similar to Clinton.
But Obama is more than a pragmatic political entity, he seems to have a core set of values that will guide him much better than most people ever thought.
Clinton was perfect for the 90's, a little edgy, a little vision but a lot of raw political talent.
Obama, he's got the political chops and a plan. A perfect leader for the new century.

3. There is a sense of urgency in this whole process... |
|
The markets will not stand still. If it looks as if there is a chance a deal won't happen, the investors, the guys who set the short term interest rates, will view the situation as too risky and jack up short term borrowing rates up to where is starts to effect the day to day operations of business's all over the country.
Companies are always borrowing in the short term to meet cash flow problems. They have to float money for inventory in order to keep up with customer demands. By short term we are talking weeks and months.
Suffice it to say a lot of the crisis was sparked and probably exacerbated by the Treasury and the Administration in order to heighten the sense of urgency all ready in place.

7. How about this? IF BUSH IS FOR IT THEN IT IS A LIE AND LIKELY A CRIME AS WELL. |
|
As soon as that maroon said it was a crisis and we needd to act now, I thought, "why the rush?"
I wouldn't trust that idiot to watch my cat.
When has he everr been right about anything?
EVER?
There is no crisis and there is no need to hurry.
This is the October surprise and we're being playedfor the biggest swindle in history right before he leaves office with $700 billion more of our dollars stuffed into his pants and the pants of his cronies.
I would vote a resounding NO on any bailout.
Not a thin dime to wall street.
Not a cent.
Bail out the taxpayers. Bail out those without healthcare.
Let the market CRASH.

6. It can't wait till forever |
|
And if they get it done fast, the "McCain coming to the rescue" idea will have very short legs to walk on.

5. that was my first instict.... |
|
But the hype around this package has gotten out of hand and the folks on Wall Street are getting more skitish each day...
That's the problem.
Do you want to score points by calling bullshit or do yo want to lead all of the country out of a financial mess...
