Bob Barr: Obama Can Debate Me
Bob Barr: Obama Can Debate Me
by Russell Berman
Thu, 25 Sep 2008 at 10:01 AM

Bob Barr has finally sensed his opening. With Senator McCain calling for Friday's debate to be postponed, the former Georgia congressman and Libertarian Party nominee says he is eager to fill in as a replacement.

"Given Senator McCain's political stunt to avoid the debate, I ask that Friday's debate moves forward without him, as I am more than willing to step in to participate," Mr. Barr said in a statement this morning.

Mr. Barr, who is polling in the low single digits, was excluded from the three presidential debates and had been planning to host a separate, simultaneous event Friday night in which he responded to the candidates and the questions in real time.

9. Barr's an asshole, but this year, I think we can declare him to be a useful idiot.
Get Barr on the stage against Obama, and worst case scenario, McCain looks like a douche for skipping out on the debate, Barr gets some publicity and poaches some votes from McCain, and Obama still kicks ass!

5. I wanna see it !!!
That would be awesome if BARR got a nice jump from the GOP voters, enough to take away McCain stronghold red state electorals.

14. I don't think the Commission would allow it, but it would be a win-win
Obama could continue to explain his plans and ideas as President, and Republicans could discover a viable and saner (I can't believe I said that about Bob Barr) alternative to Gramps.

17. Perfect!
If we could get Barr in the debate, in the south no less, McCain would be stick a fork in him done. All the batshit crazy rethugs need is an alternative to McCain, any alternative, and their vote is split. Think more like Perot rather than Nader.
