The McCain campaign's on tilt!!!

Those of you who play poker know what I mean.

Tilt (Poker) at Wikipedia

Tilt is a poker term for a state of mental confusion or frustration in which a player adopts a less than optimal strategy, usually resulting in the player becoming over-aggressive.

Placing an opponent on tilt or dealing with being on tilt oneself is one of the most important aspects of poker. It is a relatively frequent occurrence, due to frustration, animosity against other players, or simple bad luck. Experienced players recommend learning to recognize that one is experiencing tilt and to avoid allowing it to influence one’s play.

The most likely origin of the word "tilt" is as a reference to tilting a pinball machine. The frustration from seeing the ball follow a path towards the gap between the flippers can lead to the player physically tilting the machine (in an attempt to guide the ball towards the flippers). However, in doing so, some games will flash up the word "TILT" and freeze the flippers, causing the ball to be lost for certain. The metaphor here being over-aggressive due to frustration leads to severely detrimental gameplay.

Yeah. McCain's definitely on tilt. Maybe because Obama's getting under his skin, maybe even because Obama's been playing head games with him to throw him on tilt.

Anyways, I don't know about you, but I'm enjoying this!

1. That's a nice linguistic metaphor with resonance across the generations.
Tilt!

I think the Obama campaign should press that image.

2. I agree.

And how about McCain's tells? Damn I'd love to play poker with that guy. Maybe I could take one of his houses or cars off of his hands.

4. LOL, that's certainly part of it!

The grin, the blinks, and this little jerky hesitation thing he does right after he tells a whopper, as if he's waiting to see if anyone is going to call him on his BS.
