Clinton defends McCain's request to delay the first presidential debate
You have got to be KIDDING me. What a fucking asshole.

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/09/bill-clinton-do.html

{Snip}
"We know he didn't do it because he's afraid because Sen. McCain wanted more debates," Clinton said, adding that he was "encouraged" by the joint statement from McCain and Sen. Barack Obama.

"You can put it off a few days the problem is it's hard to reschedule those things," Clinton said, "I presume he did that in good faith since I know he wanted -- I remember he asked for more debates to go all around the country and so I don't think we ought to overly parse that."

If the debate moves forward as planned for Friday night, Clinton says "they should be able to talk about this some of the debate because it is a security issue."

The former president thought Bush's address Wednesday night on the economic crisis had a "positive reaction".

"We know he didn't do it because he's afraid because Sen. McCain wanted more debates," Clinton said,

Any mention of townhall in there? No. And McCain didn't ask for debates. He wanted joint townhall appearances. Different critter all together.

:eyes:

Hopefully, it's just us who listen to Bill Clinton and again, hopefully, he doesn't really influence anybody. His behavior of late baffles me. It's as though he's a hired pundit, and has forgotten he has the (D) behind his name.

24. There are WAY too many instances of Bill defending McCain now.
Why is he doing this now, when Obama has taken a decided lead? I am no longer just suspicious of Bill's motives. There is enough evidence now that shows he wants to help McCain instead of Obama. His own actions have damned him.

100. It's very subtle, no question!
Who else is bringing up these particular points in public? Who else is pointing out what McCain had to say about other meetings with Obama? He's the nice guy pointing out stupidity under the guise of a pat on the back. It's causing people to talk, clearly. They don't have to "get it" to keep the talk out there.

9. Is Bill trying to ensure he'd be invited to a McCain White House
as a member of the Loyal opposition?

He squandered his terms in office and his entire political career trying to be all things to all people. This convinces me as nothing else did that he destroyed Hillary's chances. I'm not saying he did that on purpose, just that she was so tied to him that I believed that she was as feckless as he is!

But mostly I see this as a passive aggressive kick in the nuts to McCain. In some areas, I'm seeing cherry picking here and not a lot of context. I would have to read the entire interview. And I don't have time. And I kick myself for even kicking yet another worthless thread here.

VS.

Bill Clinton going all over the television praising the shit out of the GOP candidates (which only hardcore clintonites think helps the dems).

anyone would like a sincere bill clinton out on the campaign trail, but bitter little billy can't get over losing the primary. and he can't even pretend to be on obama's side. he can't help himself, every time he's on TV he praises the GOP ticket in various forms.

but anyways, you're still changing the subject.

61. That's the great sadness with run away ambition.
On a mini-micro scale, my Aunt had to repeatedly remind my cut-throat ambitious Uncle to let me WIN at "Old Maid" cards once in a while because I was only 6 y.o. Unk and Bill have that incessant DRIVE that transcends even family loyalties.

If Bill thinks that this is helping Hillary's chances in 2012, he's wrong.

67. I WILL BE THE SOLE CLINTON APOLOGIST HERE ;)
I think he did good by actually verbalized the words "McCain" and "afraid to debate".

No one in the media actually suggested such a thing.

It's a "don't think of an elephant" moment.

By suggesting it, but *denying* it, he's reinforcing the meme.

"bad democratic cop".

flame on.

McCain said he wanted more debates, so he couldn't be wanting fewer debates....

Our Bill is more subtle than many.

74. Clinton knows he's partially responsible for this economic crisis AND...
...he really does want Obama to lose... otherwise he wouldn't be opening his piehole about Obama "being afraid" to debate McChicken.

It's as obvious as a dog biting your foot that Bill Clinton is all about Bill Clinton. Frankly, I hope Hillary divorces his ass. She can do better.

How can he like him & admire him when McCain has been shamelessly lying & putting forth slime Ads against Sen. Obama? McLiar is an Asshole!!! It seems that Bill Clinton is trying to sabotage Sen. Obama.
