Consensus: McCain's move a lame political stunt
Edited on Thu Sep-25-08 11:35 AM by ProSense
Morning Reaction to McCain's Campaign Suspension

Harold Meyerson, Washington Post: McCain's ploy was transparent.

Rocky Mountain News (CO) Editorial Page: In this case, Barack Obama is right.

John Dickerson, Slate: this gambit feels like a wild improvisation someone in the McCain team mapped out on his chest...It doesn't make much logical sense.

Thomas Defrank, NY Daily News (with the photo caption: Bold... or bonkers?): Given McCain's timing, this seems more political than altruistic.

New York Times Editorial: another wild gesture from a candidate entirely too prone to them.

Deron Snyder, Florida News-Press: the suggestion alone is pure politics

Wall Street Journal Editorial: This is supposed to be evidence of leadership?

2. Shoot, everything the GOP does is a stunt to continue theft of America's assets.
From Reagan's lies about welfare queens to bush-one&two's lies about wars, to mcCaine Mutiny's gimmicks.

4. These are great - It looks like people are seeing it for what it is
I like the NYT , "another wild gesture from a candidate entirely too prone to them"

Especially as it took nearly 24 hrs from when he declared it an emergency before he was done talking about his sacrifice and actually went to DC.

6. And that consensus, combined with early voting, is why this campaign is OVER.

10. extremely simple---
McCain is trying to get out of the debates because he is SCARED.

Obama handed Hillary her ASS in the debates--now it is Mac's turn.
