Should I Vote early?
In VA I have the option to vote early, and use a paper ballot, but only if I will not be in town on the NOV 4th
However, I don't have to require proof that I will not be in town.

So I am trying to decide if I should vote early or wait.
if I wait, I don't believe I will be able to vote on a paper ballot and I don't trust the voting machines. Although my County is a super PRO-OBAMA county

If you want to vote early...go to the registrars office and tell them you are going out of town (they don't need proof)and vote ON A MACHINE.

The choice is clear; use it and make VA blue!

24. What is access to a paper ballot?????
The only way to get access to a paper ballot is to apply for one with the registrars office.

DO NOT, REPEAT, DO NOT USE ANYTHING YOU GET IN THE MAIL, UNLESS YOU ORDERED IT. Best thing to do is go to the office and vote on a machine.

9. We mailed our absentee ballots here in Ga. yesterday. My fear
was Ga. not being prepared to handle the higher # of voters on Nov. 5th and I physically CAN'T wait in a long line for hours! In 2004 we had to stand in line for 1 1/2 hrs. and the Dems have been bragging about the # of NEW REGISTRATIONS they've done THIS YEAR.

Then you can volunteer on election day - Either canvassing, phone banking, taking people to the polls, poll site monitor.

15. I'm in VA, there is no early voting here, and no, you shouldn't lie to the registrar.
It is REALLY bothering me that some folks keep posting about "early voting" in VA.

There is no early voting here. You can fill out an absentee ballot application and cast an absentee ballot if you meet the conditions and requirments to do so.

Now I find it very disturbing that ALL of the commenters told you to go ahead and lie on your application. That is breaking the law. Period.

Just because you don't have to show them proof, you will have to sign a legal document attesting to the fact that you will not be near your polling place on Election Day. If you sign that and it is not the truth that is fraud.

Who are we on this board? I'm disgusted.

FOR ONCE AND FOR ALL, IT IS ERRONEOUS AND SUSPICIOUS THAT PEOPLE KEEP SAYING THERE IS EARLY VOTING IN VIRGINIA. THERE IS NO EARLY VOTING HERE!!!!!!!!

I could make reservation with a hotel in Hawaii
and discover my trip has to be "suspended" due to a financial crisis near DC, after I vote

I am more worried about those faulty electronic Machines, my County only uses electronic Machines
I want to make sure my Vote is counted

21. Sorry....
I am just a stickler for laws.
It's still lying and I don't think it's anything to laugh about.
If you are planning on being in town on Election Day, legally attesting to the opposite is breaking the law.

26. there's always something to laugh about
Why, just the other day my 95 year grandmother and I had a wonderful laugh discussing
wether she wanted to buried or cremated when the time came.

I suggested having her body frozen until they could find a cure, she laughed and said their is no cure for old age. Then she made me promise not to put her in an ugly dress and wig

And she made me promise not to let my drunk uncle say a few words.

17. Definitely, if turnout is as high as expected election day could have very long lines
This will be even more of an issue in a solid Obama county. Everyone who can vote early should do so to minimize the potential clusterf*ck.

20. Vote in Person!
It'll be more exciting for you to be there and you won't run the risk of getting in trouble for claiming you'll be out of town.

23. I have a thing about voting in person.
Edited on Thu Sep-25-08 01:04 PM by CitizenLeft
I love the idea of being around all the people casting their votes on election day, waiting and waiting in line forever to have their say... it's the day I feel most patriotic and a part of my country. Hoaky, corny, I know, but, hey... I love watching people vote. They're so serious and determined. I love the vibes and the suppressed excitement, I just love it. Wouldn't miss it for the world!

:silly:

25. Just make sure that you, YOURSELF apply for the paper ballot.
If one arrives in you mail, it is false. The McCain campaign is sending them to dems.
