I might have changed some votes yesterday at the Veterinarian's Office

I had to pick up a prescription for my dog who gets seizures, everyone
in the office loves animals or they wouldn't be working there, however
some are fundey rightwing type, others are left leaning or neutral.

I had about Ten people in office including customers and staff and asked
what they thought of Aerial shooting of wolves and hunters getting bounties
of $150 for each paw they cut off for payment as I was writing the check for the medication.
Then asked how they felt about shooting polar bears. Everyone said that was horrible.

After giving the details, I said "and do you know who promotes these practices?"
Everyone said no and that it was a horrible practice and shameful

I said ..... Gov. Sarah Palin, John McCain's running mate and told them to check it out for themselves and what
animal and science sites they could look at to verify what I told them.

I don't know if I changed any votes but I'm sure I made some really think because
there was a look of shock on their faces.

The point is, you can use certain issues to target groups

I think what you did was brilliant. You saw an opportunity and jumped right in. That is what it is all about.

5. Yes, I showed a video of "aerial hunting of wolves" to a friend this morning.
She was aghast. :(

6. Good for you, but I gotta tell ya it really pisses me off that these
animal lovers didn't know this already. It's been out there from the first day Palin got on the ticket, and I would think people in vet's offices would check once in awhile with the animal groups to see what the Hell is going on in the animal world. Defenders of Wildlife and the Humane Society have weighed in on this and these idiots don't know it?

10. No, Some don't get past anything in their own little worlds
Even if they work for the Humane society, I met one doing petitions for our
local office outside of a supermarket and she didn't know these facts about Palin either.

Other talking points you can use is the rape kits stance by Palin, just be sure
your target audience is approachable and not a overboard fundamentalist.

7. Good for you! I've been mentioning that too.
Most people, including most hunters, love or at least like animals. Nobody likes to hear about cruelty to animals. All the hunters I know are appalled at the thought of aerial hunting. They consider it unsportsmanlike.

Most importantly for the election, there is considerable overlap between animal lovers - I mean animal fanatics - and middle-aged white fundamentalist Christian women. That demographic loves animals! They can try to brush off the fact that Sarah Palin encourages hunters to slaughter wolves and their babies from helicopters, but I'm sure it really bothers a lot of people.

It definitely tarnishes Sarah Palin's star with this demographic. And the rest of us just hate her because of it. I sincerely hate her for what she's done to wolves and polar bears.

9. Absolutely. And you can use that technique when you canvas, too.
Take note of bumper stickers on people's cars to see if they have some issues you can bring up, like the high cost of college if they have college stickers on their car. Take note of pets in the home and children in the home and medical equipment like oxygen tanks or nebulizers, or bottles of pills on the lamp table next to their easy chair.
