share your stories...
this is for real folks. if you think mccain has any chance right now, you are fortunately mistaken.

8. probably a combination of things, this current crisis and mccains stunt being the last straws |
|
one of em is a social conservative (independent, though), so im pretty surprised, but he seems like hes just become comfortable with the idea more than anything. i dont think he likes how mccain has been recently. another was contemplating it when biden was picked, now hes for sure. another was a conservative independent as well.
mccain really stepped in it -- its become clear to anyone with half a brain that mccains vp pick and his campaign suspensions are political stunts, and that hes got nothing to offer the country. its just over for these clowns. obama has handled everything too well for some people to ignore. my guess is its in the bag. that is, assuming we keep it up.
obama/biden 08!

...says he won't bother voting this year. One co-worker will either vote for Obama or not vote at all. He says the republicans are thieves. Another co-worker says he would vote for McCain, but he is afraid of Sarah Palin becoming president, so he wont be voting at all.
The other 5 or 6 republicans at my work would march right off a cliff, and splatter on the jagged rocks below, if Bush suggested doing so.

3 of his old repub customers came in madder than hell. They were not going to vote for repubs this year because of the bailout and the mess the economy is in. He just listened and sympathized with them - encouraging them to stay home.

and won't go for Barr either. This is good otherwise they would vote for the anti gay marriage proposition in California if they showed up.

5. Just fiscal conservatives...those are the only conversions I've seen. |
|
Good enough for me. After 28 years of dealing with "Reagan Democrats" let them eat the wrath of the "Obama Republicans."

The guy I know is someone I met recently. He's been a lifelong conservative, voting the gop ticket up until now. But he's finally been able to see through *'s incompetence. With me it was the same way up until Iran-Contra. After that things just didn't feel right over there; didn't set right at all. The more I questioned things in the gop the more disillusioned I became.

My daughter's inlaws (from Indiana, military, and life-long republicans) just informed me yesterday that they've had enough. They are going to the polls and they are voting Obama. My son-in-law said he's still voting McCain and his mother had a fit. She's having heart-to-hearts with him as we speak.
I also sent her the article by Gov. Spitzer "Predatory Lenders' Partner in Crime" from the Washington post and her response is below. I NEVER would have dreamed this family would consider Obama.
"Thanks so much for sending this article. I am home with a cold thanks to my dear husband. I also want to watch the congressional hearings on this bailout. As you know, I have been a realtor for over thirty years and without belaboring the point I will tell you that I have only sold two homes through a transaction that was predatory. During the first I tried to intervene because the purchaser was very old and was a relative of the homeowner. The seller was in cahoots with the lender. I complained to my broker, who turned his head, and when I tried to stop my buyer the lender and the seller threatened my life. True story and that home has long since gone to foreclosure. I’m most certainly not tooting my own horn. This wasn’t rocket science. It was greed that trickled down from the top. I literally have gone from being successful to having no business at all and it doesn’t really bother me. I made money when we needed it and should quit anyway. The bottom line is; we knew this would be terrible (those of us who know how real estate is supposed to work) and that there are people who should never be in the market to begin with. We simply didn’t have the power to stop it. The real estate lobby is one of the largest in D.C., I believe, and their performance is abysmal.
This administration should be held accountable on so many levels. However, I never underestimate the resolve of the American people and I know we will weather this storm. "
