People of DU! I will now accept your thanks for solving the Bailout Crisis!
Edited on Thu Sep-25-08 01:10 PM by Kristi1696
Yes, I know that I wasn't in the room when the agreement was reached, or even in Washington for that matter. But neither was John McCain and he thinks that he deserves credit.

True I never read Paulson's 3-page bailout proposal, but neither did McCain.

I would also like to point out that I posted numerous posts on the Bailout packages, posts the House and Senate Banking Committees certainly considered closely. I know that I don't sit on either of those committees, but neither does McCain. So I would propose that I contributed at least as much to this agreement as John McCain did.

Finally, I would like to note that I was in Philadelphia while this deal was hammered out. John McCain was in New York. I was twice as close to Washington! Therefore, in summation, I deserve the credit, not him!

So I will now accept your thanks for saving our great nation.

:P

ETA: I would furthermore like to point out that I know how many houses and cars I own (zero and one, respectively). I am thus more knowledgeable about the economy than is McCain. I also know how to balance a checkbook. So, you see, there's really no comparison between he and I. All his credits r belong to me.

2. Thanks.

I just thought that McCain's attempt to grab the credit on this was just so absurd.

He deserves no more credit than we do. Today the Ranking Member of the Senate Banking Committee (Shelby) admitted that McCain hasn't even called him this week. So yeah, McCain was all over this "crisis". :eyes:
